DEMF so far...get to LGA around 11:30 for a 1:05, get picked for a random screening, go to gate for an on time AA flight, boarding at 12:35. About 12:30, I see an old guy complaining to his wife that their flight is canceled. I go look at the departures and we are not delayed, but entirely canceled. We are within the first 12 people in line and it took from nearly 12:35 until 2:45 to get us sorted. And by sorted, I mean get an 8:35pm out of EWR on Delta, and AA won't pay for transport. $80 shuttle later, we get to EWR, grab food, and learn that this flight will be delayed until 9:40. I now sit at the gate (since the bar closed) waiting for a plane to show up to board.

Of course, still don't know wtf happened to my festival tickets. |
A lot of people leave NYC at that time. We left last year on Saturday at 2:30, got here at 4:30. You won't really be that worried about once you get here.
We finally checked into our hotel at 12:30-45am, trying to get out to Opening Party at Elysium since we already bought tickets.

LOL.
I was not feeling Old Miami at ALL... If I have to hear Benoit and Sergio again I'm going to shoot myself. The music was considerably better than last year, but not anywhere near what it used to be. I even shouted to a bouncer for calling it techno. He laughed, but Seth didn't look so happy with what I said, haha. Even Tim Baker grabbed me for a bit to make fun of the "K music".
Fail on the Paxahau guys for not having enough actual TECHNO at the festival, the Beatport stage was a bit of a snoozefest even though I did enjoy Tale of Us. Why everyone is all up on Maceo Plex's shit? I can't understand, all his music sounds the same!
Detroit stage held it down proper all weekend, best act I saw the whole weekend was Project 313, the Droid guys were there dancing their asses off. But then Chris Liebing at the main stage played an AMAZING set... people lost their shit for 2 straight hours until Kevin Saunderson went on, who also did his thing. Didn't go to the Red Bull stage even once. The underground stage had some great names, Mr C played a great set and got to chat with him for a while, told me some crazy story of a known Detroit dj bitching him out for using a track of his in a DEMF warmup promo he made downloadable on SC... and the following bitching on FB by said dj. Too funny. DJ Godfather had me shaking me ass with some super fun ghettotech, it's always entertaining to see the dancers bringing their best jit moves.
About the afterparties: Bang Tech was a lot of fun, NY/DC repping in the D showing they can throw down just as hard. DTM 2x4 was the perfect way to kick off the weekend! Amazing set by Linder & Seoul.
CLR was PACKED, monster techno all night, Collabs was soooo good.
Worst mistake of the weekend: KMS party and missing the best part of the Blank Code party, will never go back to St Andrew's Hall. I did get to catch Carl Craig 69 live show, it should be brought to NY for sure. I left soon after though, it was very packed and at least over 100 degrees in there, the djs looked very pissed about how the event was executed and even Eddie Fowlkes ranted to me for a bit when I introduced myself, lol. Left feeling sick and like I was about to faint from the heat and went back to the hotel to shower AGAIN before going to The Works, where DVS1 closed out the night, the one dj I've seen like 3 times already just this year.
Hot Natured was another K fest that bored me and I ran out as fast as I could to avoid the horrible, HORRIBLE music, stayed for no more than 2 hours. Made it to Mixworks to catch Buzz Goree who totally blew my mind and finally got some proper Detroit techno since Friday night. Detroit is the only acceptable place to find a dance circle, some amazing locals jitting, how do they move their feet so fast???
Had a great time in the D, met some super nice people and all, but I don't see myself making the trip again unless I'm impressed with the lineup. Some names on that lineup were just unnecessary and took away from what the festival should be... what were they on when they put the lineup together? Obviously, a lot of K.
