I've always wanted have them, since I was a teenager. As a matter of fact, this is not my first time: I had them for a couple of months when I was 24. My parents, however, made my life hell so I took them out (the piercings, not my parents), left home and waited for a while because not all companies let you go around with pieces of metal in your face. No one can fire me based on my looks now because I'm teaching in a public institution and I'm a grad student... so it was the perfect opportunity to get them back.
My fiancée was opposed to it this time because, even though she's the one that bought me the jewelry, and she was there with me the first time, she was very worried because my ear is a bit swollen and she says it looks painful.
It hurt more this time (I didn't feel anything the first time), it's true, though it's hardly "painful". It's just a bit annoying because my body is once again getting used to the jewelry and, though the piercer said it should happen for the next couple of days, the occasional bleeding is a pain in the arse.
