I don't get it.. You get the chance to play at this fantastic location and you play this shitty music.

The bigger question is, why did they set up the booth outside of it?

actually thats genuilly funny. Back in the day Oakie used to play godly music with shitty mixing, now his mixing is pretty decent but the music is boring as fuck. If I had to choose, I would stick with track selection any day, really.

It's always cracked me up that Oakie acolytes bring up his daft postcard sets live from the Great Wall/Everest Base Camp /surface of the Moon as though they're something to be respected, rather than further evidence of his descent into the realms of faded circus monkey. It's good to see that he's now solidified the Spinal Tap comparison by playing Stonehenge.

Hey Paul, Carl, can you play the most boring set ever for us at this amazing setting?
"Yeah why not, we'll give it our best."

Track that Carl drops at 35 is dope, I want. But, seriously, what a waste of possibly great acoustics inside the actual structure.

This is so on the money.

He became obsessed after the U2 tour when he was named the first DJ to play to 100k people (which is bollocks anyway as some of the raves back in the late 80's surpassed that) and then wanted to have all of these tacky "firsts" which were an attempt to become something bigger/better than his "talents" would have ever allowed.

This just reeks of a bed post notch event and you can tell they're literally just ticking the box. Carl looks at his watch several times as I flicked through. It also looks cold as balls and on one skim, you can see Oakey complaining about the deck setup.

And Kenny, the DJ can't be inside because the site is too fragile/protected. You can't even get within half a mile of it these days and I'm surprised they did it that close.

I read an article about this set a couple of weeks ago. Due to noise restrictions it had to be a silent disco event, so no music was played out loud anyway. There were also only 50 people there, most of them Oakey's mates from the acid house era. The whole thing is deeply embarrassing.

Serious fucking waste, what's the point at that point? Stupid.

edit: those look like booth monitors in the stills, that's what I thought they were.

I'm wondering when do you start to not give a shit about what you play and where.. I believe that most of djs would at least try something else and play something not generic.

Maybe we all take it too serious...I know I am, obviously, but I just can't help myself
