yeah, I think I'm bored with it, so I'm just going to leave it the way it is. It sounds good enough to me and that's all that matters in the end, right?

This is pretty good, but the whole part after the drum change at 1:30 seems dull to me. I'm not sure why, or what will help with that. I think it's the repetitive crash cymbals...

But anyway. Since I ended up finishing that one dreadful song, I decided to finish another that I started a LONG time ago. If you heard the difference between this one and the first one, you'd be like.... amazed. Anywhoodles. Tell me what's wrong with it so far...

I like it, but what happens to the piano at 1:26 , completely smushed away.

Of course it's fairly nice to nod along to and a fair thing to put together as you learn the craft but in terms of a subjective view then I'd say what we have is a collection of well worn loops stuck together which is not likely to have it's own originality or personality - if you think about it kids have games such as club penguin which has these sorts of loops they can throw together but anyone can do it so it becomes of no particular value. Not meaning to be rude at, just wanting you to think more about imparting something unique that only you could do, something which is about much more than looping away.

Hope this helps.

This is the full version of the track I posted in here.

I know it's not a WIP, but I don't think it merits it's own whole thread either

Download if you see fit

I know it's pathetic, and I hate myself for my heavy use in samples; but it's the best that I can do right now. Sorry

its all part of the learning process, dont worry about it. There are so many samples/loops available these days that the temptation is just to throw some together and hope it works
The key is finding the right samples/loops - something that has a groove or character that really adds something to the track, helps drive it along.
The more experience you gain the easier it becomes to choose the right things and you start to have an overall view of the track and what you want to create
Ive been at this shit for about 7 or 8 years now and its only in the last year that i actually really know where i want to go with my music

this is great! The loops are great anyway, I love the subtle high pitched drone near the end

Hey man it's all part of a good learning process and we've all done it.

My point though was to work towards getting less loopy, that's all!

Thing is nowadays there are so many loop packs and construction kits that there is a danger many tracks will start sounding more generic and samey and honestly I cannot get interested in painting by number track making.

I use loops such as a quiet amen break live played snare loop, but you gotta build shit round them.

You seem good at mixing, way better than I was so you're getting there.

As expected, i think this is awesome Especially the beginning. I was only into trance for about a year but this kind of thing reminds me why!

lovely chunky bass and great atmosphere. Acid a .45 is wicked

im not personally super keen on the piano sound on the break down, i think the piano could sound cleaner and perhaps with more body somehow, or maybe layered with an additional sound

one more thing is i was expecting something bigger, more epic and full of energy after the breakdown, feels like it dies down much too quick

All imo of course

Here is a tune im working on, its hopefully going to be put out along with the last tune i posted in here

its going to have female vocals on it, so bear this in mind.I already found a singer/ songwriter also needs a fair bit of work and fx, fills, final mix down etc

Soundcloud has ruined the high end a bit, so also bear that in mind!

All synth sounds were made in massive (aside from the sub which is Rob Papen)

any comments are welcome

thanks

chris

The foundation sounds good so far, Chris. Obviously, the vocals are going to make the track and there's plenty of space for the vox. Looking forward to hearing where it goes.
