As much as it pains me, I think I need to make my way to Brooklyn. It seems if I want to collaborate with other people, that's where most everyone else is. And a lot of the parties are taking place there now too. |
Castlebraid. /end discussion

Anyone going to Cassy from Cocoon rooftop party tomorrow?
Ive never heard her live, ppl are saying she plays housey tracks, i was hoping for some of that Cocoon style techno |

Cocoon style techno is house now, unfortunately. Caught her at Cocoon Miami, snoooooooze.
Caught her at DEMF, snoooze. Less O's, I think she felt she had to play a little techno since it was detroit, but still mostly snooze house. |
^^ THIS. I've never seen her so bored with her set. Homegirl looked like she was on Prozac.

That's probably a bad idea unless you wanna get killed by the cartels. |
Funny, heard BPM was the ultimate K fest last year no thanks to the cartel.

I'm here to rant.
Fuck Beatport, seriously, fuck you Beatport.
Sleaze records, cool little banging techno label. tons of releases on Juno and Audiojelly. Audiojelly is $.99 for EVERY track, and reduced for full albums. SLEAZE070 is a Beatport Exclusive. $10 for 4 fucking tracks. Audiojelly is $2.59 for SLEAZE069 from Tom Hades for 3 tracks.
How much is Beatport taking off the fucking top?
Plus Audio Jelly has more complete ID3 tags and puts the catalog number in the filename. |
Beatport is for suckers. It's nice for stuff you can't find in any other way, but otherwise it's a ripoff.

Inti Fest? wtf, isn't that a small day festival with a decent lineup?
Don't see how you can hate on BPM
Ibiza has tourists too....what a POS tourist trap |
Yeah, I'd say it's like DEMF without the techno... The lineups are old and tired to me and it's basically the same poser vibe I've seen in NY lately with the same people I see every damn weekend. Yawn. And I don't support it for many reasons, several of which shouldn't be spoken of publicly out of respect for other parties involved.
Inti Fest is an awesome festival. Not only is the ministry of culture an official partner but the ministry of the environment has been a collaborator for a while. It's prob the only festival out there with an actual message that celebrates the country's heritage and raises awareness of the serious pollution problem in Peru, as opposed to, "bring your k and zone out to 90 bpm crap". The lineup is comparable and even better than BPM considering it actually has a techno stage. And if you know who to talk to and where to go, you can have a full week of amazing music anywhere.
I'm sure Ibiza is awesome, but no Ibiza for me for a while. Looking into Kazantip for next summer.
No convincing me to go to Mexico (even though I do have a visa). Berlin in December and Peru and Argentina in Jan-Feb, maybe Rio if I can manage it. I'll hear better music and hear of less scene drama, have a better tan, ride better waves, eat better food and do better drugs, and all for much less. Ta!
