THE GREAT HALL

The Great Hall was built in 1889 by the founder of the Moore Corporation, Samuel J. Moore. Architects Gordon & Helliwell were chosen to design this spectacular four storey building. It’s approximately 30,000 sq ft. with a full basement. It housed the first west end YMCA in Toronto. It was also home to some of the earliest basketball games ever played in history!

In 1912 the property was sold to the Royal Templars of Temperance, who conducted business in the building until 1940's when there was a major shift in the buildings use. It was acquired by the Polish National Union, and soon, presses on the ground floor were rolling out copies of The Polish Voice newspaper. On the top floor, rooms were pressed into service as temporary shelter for Polish refugees fleeing the war in Europe.

In the mid 1980's the rumble of the presses were replaced by the sound of experimental music and avante-garde art. The Toronto School of Art eventually helped to establish 1087 Queen St. West as an important address for Toronto's arts community. The dance music community embraced this venue very early in Toronto’s house music history and many legendary parties and afterhours jams took place in this historic building. It’s not hard to figure out why...the main hall is approximately 3000 sq ft. with a 40-foot high vaulted ceiling, a balcony with a sweeping wrought iron railing and a fully-sprung hardwood dance floor!

If you’ve partied at The Great Hall before, you know what it’s all about...welcome back! If this is your first time you’re in for a big treat and an epic night of music and dance with Toronto’s finest DJs, top promoters, and very special guest, Osunalde! Happy Easter!

This venue looks amazing!!!!

And Osunlade was great at Maro this winter.

Plus we all know Pat Boogie knows how to throw a party.

Seriously considering this

Yeah I'm actually really torn between the two, kinda thinking doing both though? Would you be up for it?

This one mostly for the venue, milkrun for the music.

Then, I blew out the candle.

Hopefully the milkrun location isn't in the east end like it normally is - then maybe you could do both.

Big line up at milkrun tho, wow!

Nah, budget dictates that this is a 1 party night.

Decisions, decisions.
