I get my new car Thursday. Excited, but I dunno how I feel about it being assembled in Mexico. I realize it's still German engineering and all that, but can I really say I own a German car if it's made in Mexico? I don't even know why it matters to me, but it just isn't the same. :/

Very little German cars for export markets are assembled in Germany.
The parts for the most part are German, the factory uses German technology, and the workers are well trained. The quality control process is the same. It is a German car. The assembly is nothing vs how the car is engineered.
German companies can not feed the demand, and this way actually makes the cars more affordable.
This applies for essentially all major car manufacturer that supplies the mass market.

Well it's just that up until this year, the Golf for the Canadian market was still made in and shipped from Wolfsburg. Shit, my last one was literally being unloaded from the boat when my dealership was trying to find it for me.
You're right, the good thing about them being made in Mexico is the cost/price factor, but ehhh, I'd still pay more to have it come right from Germany.
