Any kind of menial work on a computer doesn't require practice or skill. A one handed person could do your job, though they'd type more slowly. The same cannot be said for nursing, which requires practice and a great deal of hands-on training.

I taught myself programming and wrote my own games when I was in high school, without the usage of a book. It's about as hard as basic geometry, and anyone can do it. However, given my interactions with you, I can see why you think it's difficult.

Granted, one programmer can be more talented than another and writing complex things requires a lot of knowledge and ability, but the glorified tech support you're doing doesn't come under that heading. Watch out for VB script, that scary, complex programming language that calculators use! If, then, else, oooooh!

It's not just installing software, we're in charge of configuring different departments' computers with the necessary software required for their jobs that's stored on the corporate file servers. It's also not remote desktop at all. We also push updates of the company's encryption software, and monitor to make sure employees in the confidential areas of the company don't have any PI saved on their computers. So, yes, I do install software on people's computers before they get them, and no, that's not all I do.

You're right, Windows can tell people how to access secure servers from thousands of miles away. It's a wonder there is even an IT industry at all when Windows can do everything for everyone. Comments like that make it hard for me to believe you actually made it through nursing school, as rigorous as it is.
