By the way, today I woke up angry with my country. The public higher education institutions have been on strike for the last trimester, and I've had enough of these motherfucking syndicalists in my motherfucking university. Is there anything like a "scientific asylum"? I'm off to visit the British, the Dutch, and the Meaty embassies... I'm not willing to be in a PhD programme that may come to a halt whenever bureaucrats decide to quarrel with the government. This is not France, god damn it

The Dutch were awesome, the Brits were very supportive, the Krauts told me to wait and look for info on the internet because the person in charge of helping students wasn't available at the moment (but I could go back as soon as this person returned), and the Aussies told me they don't deal with pesky scientists.

Hmm.... now I need to find out if I can tell my country to sod off, or if I need to stay now that I'm being paid for the government to do bugger all in a university paralysed by this series of strikes...

Maybe, instead of beating yourself, you could make amends by having a little intellectual integrity and thinking before you post. Failing that, you could just shut up. Beating yourself is unnecessary and counter-productive. I'm sure Lira's not the only person to have given up on you but there is someone who still loves you.

I hope so. Last year some people in Nijmegen showed some interest in my research but things didn't really work out... because I'm already enrolled in a PhD course here, I didn't really insist or anything. Now that my research is being hindered by these tossers, I'm once again thinking of going back to the old continent.
