ruined my credit, and was fired from every other job i've ever had so with no traditional references, and employers tendency to check credit. music was really the only thing i could do to make money.
Because of the challenge in creating something complex from nothing more than a simple, incipient whisper. To go about setting something in motion, to become familiar with the argument and cultivate its realization enough to box myself into an algorithmic corner from which I work to satisfy my staunch belief that there is no such thing as a problem of my own making that has a null solution. Because it is something that pushes my abilities beyond what I presently believe I can achieve by shining light into the neglected areas where deficit in skill is much greater than I previously thought could be over-come. I do it for these reasons, but mostly, for money, chicks and I wanna be the next Tiesto van Guetta.
I actually hate the act of doing it. There's nothing enjoyable about hunching over a computer sitting in one place for hours and listening to the same loops over and over again, it's not the same as playing an instrument. It is different however in that instead of supplying just one part of a musical piece you can create the entire thing, and it's yours, kind of like how an artist creates a vision through a painting or an author writes a story
It's about the end result and, like every artform, it's about healing and communicating life experiences to others in a higher language
I'm assuming most of the producers here have little side-projects that are more honest and personal than 4 on the floor dance music.. what I'm talking about doesn't really apply to dance music but the other stuff that probably doesn't see the light of day

Ye olde guys, how long have you been making music?(hope its a great amount of years) Your hearing is declining, better make it whilst you still can!
For me, I just really like being deep in the mix, all the small details being able to make big changes, and you really think you're into something great that sometimes has some sort of representation or expression of something you have in mind. I guess my love for sharing music, stuck with me from a young age where I loved to show people music, which I still do. Emo biography styles :<. This is where I pull a DJ Ryan and post a work in progress, just kidding

It's fun. The sonic process is incredibly rewarding. I honestly just do it because it's super fun and I'm decent at it, and it can make others happy on the dance floor.
