i love it for in the field, but the mark ii is better in studio which is where i primarily shoot. really the 7d is an amazing camera and the video quality is top notch (in my non professional videographer opinion.... although the video program at my college started using 7d's stating it was better then the mark) there is a bit more noise when u get to 800+ iso then the mark, but thats to be expected at half the price, also although the 1.6x sensor works for me because of my lenses, i still am hoping to one day upgrade to a full sensor, ditch my lenses and truely enjoy.
this is coming from someone whos favorite camera is still her ancient 4x5 film camera god i f'ing love film, i just dont have a dark room anymore and dont see myself getting one in the near future i honestly dislike digital but im forced to live with it. I prefer to develop my film and prints myself, put my hands in the probably cancer causing chemicals and be 1 on 1 with every step...
but yes, 7d is my favorite "digital" camera, i dont think i would upgrade to the mark ii simply because of the difference in the video, although im sure that will change soon if it hasnt already, canon wont let the 7d out perform the mark in any area for too long

Interesting comments. I waited a looooong time before getting a full frame cam body. I'm into wildlife photography (mostly birds, in case you didn't know - You haven't been around much the last few years ) and when I got the 5D2 it was a pretty big change for me (just the loss of 1.6x focal length!).
The bonus, of course, was/is that I can properly use my slower telephoto lens (100-400mm L) at 1600 ISO, whereas with my 50D (which I still have, admittedly) it would be so damn noisy in ANY kind of light. And for birds, I really need the fast shutter speeds
