I prefer techno because the basslines are much more creative than of the latter... I am tired of hearing the same old shit when it comes the more progressive sound... Sure you could argue that a lot of techno sounds the same as it used to, but I believe there are a great amount of innovative artists that stray away from the same old stuff.
I do agree with you that techno producers tend to be more creative (and it is one of the reasons I play mostly techno tracks) but, like any other genre, there sure are artists who put out the same loop, the same drum pattern over and over again.
However, when you say that you are 'not digging the direction Guy J took', I just want to point out that he is basically producing the same kind of tracks as before. He does not have a new direction. In fact, I have had the chance of hearing some of the tracks that will be on his new album and I can't honestly say that his sound has evolved very much. He puts out solid prog house tracks, some of them are a bit more techy, but most are deep and melodic. Of course, he is not reinventing the wheel...but who is nowadays?

Agreed.. basically what Zek is saying is that he doesn't like progressive house, because IMO Guy J is if not the best, one of the best progressive house producers along with Henry Saiz. Saying that he produces the same shit is rediculous, he doesn't use the same kick/snare for every track like Deadmau5, he has his own sound.
