The thing I love about Bayern, and the Bundesliga in general is that there aren't really any tycoons propping up clubs. Most clubs have some form of community ownership. The league is very domestic and doesn't rely too much on foreign players to fill out rosters. Bayern are 100% community owned - and the only reason they have money is because of the winning culture they've always had. Players want to play in that environment - plus Munich and Bavaria in general is fucking beautiful!
Also, tickets to see a Bayern game are very reasonable. They've gone on record to state that they don't see a reason to charge huge numbers for tickets because watching football shouldn't be for the rich.

Yeah that's one of the things that sets the German league apart imo, no complete private ownership and usually majority shares made exclusive to supporters. It's a respect thing, and the clubs get that their fans make them what they are. It's not exclusively about the 'business' and turning a profit like it is in some leagues. Union are the same, owned by the supporters and you get to vote on everything, even the concession items. A few years ago we needed to renovate the ground and didn't have the cash to hire a private firm, so over the course of the summer hundreds of supporters turned up everyday and did the work themselves. You can't buy that commitment. You're right about the ticket prices as well, a Borussia supporters terrace ticket runs you about €10, and you can get Bayern season tickets for as little as €110 I believe. For a 'premium' match in England you're looking at £40 for an upper tier seat. It's madness.
Regarding Bayern, you're both right and have valid points imo. They certainly 'poach', and other teams would have to break the bank just to match the offers Bayern can throw out without hesitation. The thing is though, it's not the same as what City and Chelsea have been doing. Bayern have been at this a long time, and they have the trophy cabinet to back them up. I don't personally agree with much of it, but you have to respect them. Nobody forces anyone to go to Munich, they do so willingly. Coincidentally, it's also the place where a lot of quality players struggle and are shipped out just as quick as they're brought in.
