Funnily enough, although I think the film is abysmal I already have a bizarre nostalgia attached to it, because we saw it in the middle of an epic four-day extended weekend as part of the Diamond Jubilee celebrations. I went to the cinema hung-over on two hours sleep, staggered out of it into the nearest beer garden to mock the film at length, then we all hit town that night and were still laughing about it until 5am. Bumped into an old work colleague in a rock bar and we sat on a bench in Millenium Square while the sun came up and my housemate lay spread-eagled out on the paving slabs. Then I embarked on an improbable clubbing tour of the country that took in Manchester, Brighton and ended up in Birmingham on Monday evening. I think I slept for about 17 hours on the Tuesday and completely forgot to go back into work.
Everything about that weekend was an adventure, and somehow the immense plot holes in Prometheus feel like an appropriate metaphor for the large gaps in my memory of those four days.
