I wanna take the time in what may be one of my greatest achievements to thank Jack and Sand Leaper. They were the only ones to come in here with their pants on and offer any nuance to this topic. Jack especially, barring his first comment, kept his head on his shoulders the whole time and did not let our antipathy towards eachother get too much in the way. I am really proud of what we accomplished. Memes and shit posting incoming.

Edit: I guess I'll put pkc's name here too, he did some nice plagiarism with the google machine.

Holy shit, man, do you not read the shit you write? You are here claiming capitalism to be sick and then claiming that it's all good and there is nothing there and you haven't given up. Like communism is some kind of medicine or placebo in this case. And you haven't given up? What do you do then, make more money? Clear contradictions all over the place. "I had commie opinions when I was a kid, but then I grew up and learneded and matureded, supported the sick system, because it's the best there is. I didn't give up."

i do not think and have never said capitalism is "all good" or anything approaching that. the fact i enjoy(ed) marxism as a critique of capitalism should indicate i am well aware that capitalism is hardly perfect. in the same vein, i've never considered it was "sick", either. as i alluded to in that post, supporting a model of social, political or economic organisation doesn't have to be (and imo, probably shouldn't be) a case of accepting and agreeing with everything about it or refusing to acknowledge its shortcomings. life just isn't that simple and no ism has all the answers (ala dialectical materialism).

what i stated was that i never "gave up" on socialism because i was never behind it in the first place (except as a theoretical critique of liberal democracy, capitalism and excessive marijuana use); as i got older i simply outgrew some of the marxist concepts i thought were valid at an earlier point.

well you haven't explained what you mean other than to suggest i gave up on socialism so im unsure what else you might be on about.

I'm not so sure you do.

pretty sure i've pointed out here relatively recently that most of us would belong to the "10%" and are in a position of relative privilege compared to most of humanity.

i think most of us could claim to know a lot (intellectually) about suffering; you know, assuming we pay attention to all the shit that happens around the world. luckily, most of us don't have to actually experience it.

i spent more than a decade working closely with the most underprivileged people in the country (excluding indigenous australians), yet they are better off than their equivalents in too many other parts of the world thanks to the wealth-generation of private markets and (liberal) government redistribution.

Now we're getting to some good stuff. Do you even know the difference between communism and anarchism? And you're smart?

well if we're talking about lefty anarchism in the context of communism its more accurate names would be anarcho-syndicalism or anarcho-communism depending on what you're asking (there are also the righty anarchists but i don't think that's what you're asking). some communists believe one of the main goals is industrial democracy for workers, whereas some anarchists decry any and all authority regardless of type and will also criticise socialism's real-world experiments for obvious reasons. anarchists also tend to focus more on individual agency than collectivism, though there's plenty of overlap. in a communist society there would still be plenty of structures of authority, just that these would be democratically controlled by workers.

however, in the ways they view the functions of the (capitalist) state, the ills of capitalism generally and the need for revolution to address them etc the two groups have a lot in common.

you'd be wrong if you claimed the sun would "come crashing down and then we will see who was right"

You kinda proved my point. There aren't any, and there won't be any, but you'll cling on to some moronic notion that you've got it figured out and all we have to do is renounce capitalism!

and that's the thing that shat me back in the day and still shits me now. socialists get to ascribe any features to their pretend societies that they want. you can't have a rational conversation with someone whose ideology is literally reliant upon predicting the future. they get to use any narrative they choose because "all those socialist countries were really state capitalist states and real communism is nothing like that!". it's one big 'no true scotsman' fallacy on top of economic retardism.

We get it that it bothers you, already, but can you actually point out what's wrong about that statement? Besides your obvious caricature of it, it seems you don't actually have any solid critiques of communism as an economic theory. Isn' t that what you came here to do? Let's get to it. All of these google facts you posted have me dying of boredom.

Gave up, "grew out of", lost your edge. We are just arguing semantics. I think you know what I mean when I call you broken. Capitalism beat you over the head so many times you just regurgitate whatever. It seems like you're upset.

Yep, this is pretty much when I thought you'd start back tracking. I predict in another two post you'll finally fall on your sword.

The lol tongue smileys seem useful though.

If I close the thread, am I seizing the means of post production? Given that it would kill the thread, I can't help but feel this would be the perfect analogy.

Kenny sounds like one of those Nou types who lives in his parents basement. I take it he has latched on to communism because can’t hold a job.
