Actually, the best part for me is from 2:05 to 2:36, that happy main melody is not my cup of tea, also to much white noise (from open synth) overall... maybe that style of music has to sound like that, i'm realy far far away from being an expert .

Btw.. I've got an interesting review from one musician, and he said that there must be some rules applied to track composition so that labels would even consider your track for publishing.. What do you think about that?

quote:
If a DJ uses a 6-minute track in his mix, a minute til a minute and 30 in the beginning and end of the it would be lost in the mixing process. This means that the musical idea of this track has to be developed in that minute - 01:30 in its beginning. This rule applies no matter if the track is used for a mix or not. I like your track but what do I mean - in my opinion after 00:15min the bass line has to come in, the kick - 00:32min, 01:18min - again full drums as well as stringpad, which comes at the end of the track(right now). If you wish, you can change the stringpad but keep the original idea. That way the main idea of the track will become developed. About the pauses in the track - in this case it would be better to make just one, around 30 secs before the second course of the stringpad.

Thanks - that feedback from a musician, do you mean it was feedback to my actual track?

I used to put the bass in early as suggested in that feedback, and give and early blast of the main part but people would say there was too much revealed too early on. Just gotta go more with my own gut feel I think otherwise you end trying to please too many different constituencies.

Anyway thanks for your thoughts, the bit you like is the the bit I was finding the most boring, lol.

I am trying not too have too much low on the kick now as for me personally it spoils tracks, especially in the car when often they overwhelm the music.

Also I was taking the advice of Steve Duda who said its too easy to overdo the low end on kicks.

So I'll see how things go before changing it yet. But many thanks. Any other mix advice most welcome.

Your feedback about the white noise is spot on. It comes mainly from open filter synth. I will tone it, and the lazars down.

Would you think that part you liked better should form the basis of the intro then?

Hmmm then can you try low it down ~650 hz a bit? Maybe my brain got screwed from to much alcohol, but that freq sounds like its distracting me from the mix, it sounds to boxy xD

Beatport did not file for bankruptcy. SFX did. Beatport has sufficient funds to continue. Don't spread misinformation.

Unless the label provides more value relative to the share it takes. If a label takes 50% but increases gross revenue by 300% it is a good deal as you will be making double the money you would've on your own, as well as you've gotten access to their client/fanbase, thus inherently the label is creating even more value than just the part that is monetized short-term.

Nonsense, the value of a label depends on the context. Accessing your fanbase directly is of course a given.
