It is an excellent all-around mixer, but the Evo is in a different league in terms of, most importantly, sound quality, and then in terms of features, customization, etc. (ie: fader curve customization, effects chaining, etc.) It is trickier to use than the 800, I will say that. But once you have it for a bit it becomes second nature. I'd match it up next to ANY of the other big boys without a second thought. Ecler may not have market saturation as much as the other guys, especially here in the states, but man they're awesome.
The built-in Traktor and Ableton compatibility is great too. And even though I use the Torq software, I actually use the Evo's internal ASIO-compatible sound card for the sound output. It, in my opinion, is the best of both words. In other words, all I have to do is plug the Conectiv dongle into a usb port on my laptop just to launch Torq, but then I can do away with all the RCA connections from the Conectiv and simply use 1 firewire cable from the Evo to my laptop. |
Do you use midi with your evo? I have an Evo 4 and I can't get the top knobs to work correctly with torq or serato. The knob on the mixer doesnt move the knob on torq/serato, it just turns it on or off. Only thing that pisses me off with the mixer...
