There's a simple equation to winning the Stanley Cup. Get it the f-ck over with, and whip out the wallet, and buy the best players available, and Bingo! you have a Stanley Cup winner.
Torontonians have held on to this 'hope' fallacy for way too long. Just get it over with, fork over the dough, and put the leafs fans out of their misery, and buy them the f-cking cup.
Toronto did this with the Blue Jays, and got the World Series. Highest payroll does not guarantee a cup, but it sure helps to keep the leafs out of bottom-feeder contention.

at one time you what you say was true. However, now they can only dish out so much money and that is it.
also....I remember a team....oh ya New York Rangers...that tried that whole buying a stanley cup thing....didn't work out too well there.
