i don't have techs
i have these shitty numark 1520s

but the way i see it, i don't need good gear to play out... they usually have almost everything i need when i get there
i only need some cheap decks to play with at home when not out spinning

hey now the vestax decks are pretty cool.. IMHO the only thing giving technics a run for the money.

I wouldnt mind having some of the new P3D's or whatever they are called.. or even just PDX2000s... but i like my techs!

amazing how many people are using the 275.. very popular box!

oh well. back to work.

according to me Vestax are the only turntables that can come close to competing with Technics .... and that's not recent.... cause the only other decks you'd ever find in clubs are vestax ( most likely ) and yes there are some clubs out there that have other stuff then technics !
none the less technics is still going steady and strong , doing nothing to improve or promote their image yet keeping the market! that's what any company could ever dream of!
It'll take some time to steal that first place away from technics ... if that ever happens... for one, all the technical improvments and new models are mostly aimed at the scratch dj market ... where Vestax have a real position in the competition with technics ..... the others just don't hold up ... well maybe but not on many peoples terms.

listen, I took the pdx2000's out for a spin, and I assure you they are better than techs.

Start and stop time is close to instant, and reverse takes no more than 1 second to completely reverse the platter, at a constant speed.

The clickless pitch fader is perfect, and somehow feels better than the tech's.

ANd they just look so plain beautiful.

Well, I guess I'm a "wannabee"

I "wannabee" a DJ in my condo.

Just because you don't have the Versace version of turntables, doesn't mean you're a "wannabee". I love spinning, I love my tables, and nobody's gonna tell me what I should be buying.

Come on bro...we're all one, big, happy tranceaddict family, let's stick together!

Apologies if hostility is felt.

Love and respect!

I agree with u4ea... I don't like it when ppl brag about their equipment like that. Sure 1200's are the standard, but is that a reason for you to talk down on ppl who don't have them? Djing is about other things aswell... music, fun, skill etc... I think fun is the most important one

Yeah, you guys are right, sorry, i didn't mean to come of as a snob because of my preference for techs.

they are great decks, but, as has been said, there are others that are very good as well. notably vestax, and gemini's are OK too.

I'll tell you a little story about a dude i know name "dj wicked" he has 2 "turntables" actually, i think that you would call them record players more precisely. i think one is a sony, and one is a pioneer or something, they don't have pitch control, they might even be belt driven, i'm not sure.

he also has a mixer he got from radio shack, with just a crossfader and volume knobs, the thing hardly works.

anyway, one day he invited me over to "spin" and i showed up and just laughed.

I decided that day, i would get tech12s, and that would be all i would settle for.

but, to each his own, and i mean no disrespect to shock wav or u4ea, or anyone else who doesn't have techs.

hell, i am thinking of buying a numark TTX1 for a 3rd deck, so.. yeah..

anyway, that crow was tasty!

you being snobish ?
vestax and gemini are not just ok
actually gemini blows if you're talking real shit ....
Vestax is defenitely a real alternative....

but let us not forget ... most improvments these days are made to please to the scratch dj market with , straight arms for example ....

awwwww I bet you wrecked his day , and you might have also destroyed all the coolness he thought he had in him!
you bad bad boy!
you gonna go and give him your 1200s NOW !

what about the new numarks, look really smooth, have some very cool options, switchable tonearm, and you can swictch around the pitch bar, even cost more then tech, so at least numark thinks they are worth something
Anyone had a chance to play around with them? like look pretty nifty
