Cheers guys,

this sounds like an old one Darek?? sure ive heard this before, the kick/perc/bass sitting really nice, sounds quite pro actually, just grooves really well and drives
it needs something special in the breakdown, if you get the drop right it could be a big one
the vocal....yeah im not sure its doing enough, i get the feeling that a higher pitched vocal would lift the track to another level
those little vocal snips are a bit out of place to my ears

Thanks for the feedback... I spent like 1 hour designing the kicks reverb in B2 ... probably the most powerful reverb plugin in existence. Its crazy all of the spacial features you can add to a sound with it and shape it exactly how you have it in your head... guess that's why they call it a "Spacial Processor"
Yeah I did notice the fatigue issue somewhat on some of the drone strings more resonant frequencies. I tried to EQ/compress it away but I don't think it worked well enough... just too much resonance at certain frequencies left over. Think I will take those elements of the track back to the drawing board.
one thing ive noticed is that if the source sound isnt up to scratch it doesnt matter how fancy your reverb is
e.g i wouldnt use my Waldorf Q with the filter opened out fully on certain settings as it can get a little harsh and sometimes alias, reverb wont really disguise it
and then on the flipside if you have a really top quality sounding source going into a proper reverb you are on the money
good stuff man, look forward to hearing more from you!

Yeah, I have gotten some good results from KS before but you have to "tame the beast" and work around its limitations, alot of the settings with high numbers of partials in spring resonator mode can have unpleasant resonances. Definitely true about the sound source quality being the most important thing... lipstick on a pig
Still trying to make Kaleidoscope work in the context of the production, completely reworked that part of the song adding in 3 new KS parts that hopefully should be more pleasant to the ears and heavily drawing on my previous ambient work in Kaleidoscope rather than just blind experimentation.
EDIT:
Listened once over and it sounds right.. have a weird recurring bug with certain plugins that can cause things to randomly glitch out unless I reload the preset... sorry for all the edits

Hi
not really familiar with ambient music but gladly offer my opinion!
I like the evolving pad sound, and the intro really captures my attention. cool, spooky atmosphere
not super keen on the "texture" of the reverb sounds a bit distorted/noisy
For me it needs more details/change/evolution to keep interest, also I find the beat too minimal and would like some other percussion

Cool thanks. maybe the vocal and more instruments would do it?
Yes, it will definitely do (addition of your vocal), but also this organ sound when vocal would come will need to mellow down a bit like decrease attack on it so would give you a really nice and smooth background for (and I could see a female) vocal.
So far so good Chris.
