What do you mean by "bad"? Is an ill-advised tattoo of a former fling's name a bad tattoo? Or a beautifully rendered drunken whim?
Actually, I didn't even have the names in mind, so that definitely didn't count as bad in my original example and should have, good call. But this is what I'd call a bad tattoo:
Even the NHS should volunteer to erase this hideous drawing
Edit:
This is great

People with tattoos have no respect for art? Some of the more beautiful pieces of art I've ever seen have been on people's bodies. Complete stories told over an arm or across a chest. I don't know if you've just never seen a good tattoo or not, but to say people having art work permanently placed on their body have no respect for art is just asinine.

Probably because it was in response to a nonsensical question. "Let's cover myself in the most beautiful art. And then put a shirt over it for 95% of my life."

Not all art is meant for other people to look at. Hence the extremely personal aspect of tattooing. The piece is meant for the person whose body it will be on for the remainder of their life. It doesn't matter what anyone else thinks, or if anyone else even sees it at all.

If it doesn't matter what anyone thinks, then why is it even a topic of discussion?

Apparently because Penalba enjoys the taste of my penis.
And the philosophy or rationale behind tattooing is a valid topic of discussion, but that doesn't mean that if someone gets a tattoo that is covered 95% of the time, that they "don't respect art."

Art without an onlooker is just a bunch of pictures. Hence my point.

I can see my arm just fine. How exactly do you quantify the number of viewers for something to be considered art? If there is an original Monet sitting in an attic somewhere that nobody has ever seen, would you consider it art? After all, it is just a picture that nobody looks at.
And you're straying away from your assertion that people with tattoos do not respect art. Please explain how a person who pays an artist to essentially paint a permanent picture on their body does not respect art.

I'd say that most tattoos are crap, and aren't actually art, and certainly aren't essentially indicative that their bearers have any interest in art on any level.
Can you imagine pestering some burly sod waiting at the DMV, his arms covered in godawful portraits of dragons fit only for budget middle-school attire: "Art fan, are ye?".

Who the fuck are you to assess what is or isn't art?
It's subjective.

I'm me, that's who. And I say that some things are not art. It's subjective, so it's subject to my opinion.
Is there anything else that I can help you with?

That's true, but the question was "who wouldn't want to be covered in beautiful art?"
To which the answer was "People who have respect for art, I imagine"
I'm not talking about a tattoo that was picked out of a generic book which cost $50 and took 20 minutes to do.
I'm talking about art that is created for you by an artist, which could take anywhere from 6-12 hours to complete, and cost thousands of dollars. People don't tend to spend that much money and invest that much time and pain on something that they don't respect.
