Those people have been around forever, and some of the harsher members actually seem to have pretty much quit the board (for example, Mr. Mystery and mikey-mike). So I'm not sure that the "unwelcoming committee" has much to do with it. I think it is more about the attitude of the average member, plus the decline of forums and trance in general, than it is about a small group of people.

Doubtful it has anything to do with music as much as it has to do with the cor people's personalities.

There are tons of bad users here (won't name any, but it's pretty obvious who I'm referring to)that become defensive and start acting like total ass-hats towards new members. 6meets9 kinda hit the nail on the head. It's like one big unhappy family which hates any type of new-comers, where the different "roles" are already assigned and to actually become a part of the cor is very, if not impossible.

Blaming music is foolish, in my opinion taken as MD, although not too active, still delivers some quality threads.

MD is far less active than it used to be. Using the same kind of test as for the COR:

Page 250 - 29 April 2008
Page 500 - 18 May 2006

It (and the Production Forum, btw) has the exact same activity pattern as the COR.

Yes, JBJ, but I'm talking about quality. MD still is a great for discussion about music with people which are more or less specialists in different areas, having threads about the future of different music styles, evolution, suggestions etc. It still is great for receiving suggestions about music one already listens to or for finding new music and from time to time the eventual lulz provided by Mark Anthony.

I haven't been an active member of cor, but even I have seen a clear decline in quality around here. Especially since Clovis, Avana left and Bas barely posts.

I have no idea why Avana left, neither do I care what actually happened, but she helped build the foundation of some interesting discussions and debates, especially when she went head to head versus Jack.

You're very jaded about this and try to act as if the cor, with its somewhat shitty behavior doesn't really have a fault to all this, when honestly it pretty much brought this on itself.

Just my two cents.

MD does have decent discussions, though they are marred these days by the mandatory three giantass YouTube embeds per post.

As long as they're relevant, don't see the problem.

It's because no one has bumped the dolphin sex thread in ages.

If we bump it a whole lot of new people will join no doubt

It might just be Constable Stubert's fault! You have to let the retards roam and graze somewhere. This place would be quite a hit if we could just reply to them with cock pictures, but nooOOOO!

(1) They take up a shitton of space. I like information density.
(2) They slow the load time.
(3) The same function can be had less obtrusively by a link to the YouTube page.
(4) People don't listen to the majority of them in the first place. I sure don't, anyway.
