Well DC and NO are the main ones (DC for political stuff/museums and NO for the food!!!) so Atlanta was just on the way really. Is there anywhere better then inbetween DC and NO?
Well, I haven't been anywhere else around there, but if you're just stopping for one or two days, you should be fine. It's a pretty city with a lot of beautiful buildings and loads of trees and plants everywhere - and you can go and see the CNN HQ.
But when I was there, it seemed to be a city for "settled" people. Nothing was happening, with major streets being completely empty a saturday afternoon, bars and restaurants being more closed than open, and the like. The most excitement I had, was when I found out that I had wandered into a mainly "black" neighbourhood (incidentally, I was looking for a museum which had been closed down), and people there did the "stop talking and look ominously at the stranger"-shtick. Man, I had a lot of fun, trying to find the easiest way out while not pulling out my map and confirm that I was a tourist.

In the UK you generally "pull" somebody on a night out and if they aren't too ugly when you wake up you might ask them out for a drink or summat (or if they dont think YOUR too ugly!)

Following the "dating"-part of this thread, my experiences would tend to agree with yours: It seems like people in the US are dating rapidly, and getting new dates at a pace I couldn't manage. In Denmark you tend to get introduced to potential partners through mutual friends, meet in professional settings, at a club (both being drunk), or explicitly through dating agencies/web pages. Jumping strangers would be totally out of the question. However, here in the US, I would say that people are *far* more aggressive in their flirting and hook-ups. The most extreme example I saw was some random dude stopping two girls on the street and asking one of them out. When she declined he asked the other one.

I dunno, georgey, devrish, would that kind of carry on happen in Britian?
Well a random might come upto you and start talking to you..... but in Scotland but it would be along the lines of:
"Geez your fooking jayket!!!!"
Bad luck on the fall tho (acually probebly good luck cos you never broke anything/killed yourself )

*sigh
What I wouldn't give to be NOT clumsy.
Look at the bright side: Fortunately you don't have Arbiter's problem and you know exactly how this happened ot you

Okay, history aside, D.C. has about the best per capita ratio of hot women of anywhere I've ever been. Don't mind their motives, just take in their hotness!
As far as between D.C. and NO, unless you want to stop in Nashville, I think you're better off in Atlanta. There are actually some very cool clubs here, if you know who to ask and where to go. Just be careful if you get too far off the beaten path, you might end up in someone's back yard.

You, my friend, have obviously never been to Brisbane.
(Although, apart from the women and the weather, Brisbane's kind of a shithole imho...)
got my new phone, 6610i. Now how do i get new games and ringtones? This whole new technology lark of java games and polyphonic ringtones is far to advanced for me.
any websites that have good(dance) free ringtones? How do i get them onto my phone?

Hey who you calling young.... old guy of unknown age, though not necesserally rich history.
At least Eddie Izzard the great historian agrees with me....

He's funny. For the record, I'm 28 years young. No gray hairs yet!
and yes, I agree that Europe has far more history than the U.S., but my point was that D.C. in particular is rich with U.S. history(or what history there is!)
