I think the most annoying thing about the COR is how a large percentage of the guys will just sacrifice all their dignity to grovel and worship the ground that the TA women walk. It’s like in the movies how there’s always that one guy who starts panicking uncontrollably the minute things turn sour and he becomes a blubbery pansy. Similarly in the COR, if a new hot chick comes around, you can just see the stampede of guys trampling over one another to impress her. If you were there in person you would want to grab them, shake them, slap them around a few times and tell them to have some self-respect.
Heh, yeah, and what totally fascinates me is those rare occasions when some ordinary looking chick posts her pics, every single reply is totally worshiping her looks.

^^^ good overviews
plus groups of elites back slap eachother for pretty unfunny humour and they get a nice warm feeling of acceptance.
But sometimes it is funny as fuck too.

I have yet to see a truly good looking female TA. Oh and also does anyone want to talk about the fact that you seldom, if ever, see women in here. Perhaps the Dean at Harvard was on to something.

From back when I was posting in COR, my impression is that the two species, COR-boys and COR-girls, live in a beautiful symbiosis: The guys get their occasional "LOL" or "LMAO" from a girl, and the average looking and plain girls get treated like princesses or super models. Everybody wins!
Yea that's a very annoying byproduct of all this vagina worshipping. It was the exact same situation at my university. The ratio was like 70:30 guys to girls. As a result the few chicks that there were get all this attention that they never got before. In most cases they start getting inflated egos, snobby, pretentious, etc. I can't stand arrogant, holier than thou chicks ... doesn't matter how attractive they may be, it's such a turn off.

Echo of Silence and Anuneventrade used to post here about a year ago. They've since stopped. Intaille (sp? forgot how her screen name goes) is a girl (I think) and she still frequents the polit forum every now and then but only to lurk ...

so, too few female posters in PDD, lets solve this in the canadian way!
Quotas!
From now on, we will not allow any more male posters in here, until the male female ratios is 50:50 +/- 10%.
Okay?

Actually, I don't think there's that big a crowd of newcomers here. I guess we're pretty good at scaring them away. Even re-newcomers such as arctic and Epicurus only lasts for a couple of days before disappearing into oblivion(COR). Wonder why that is? Maybe we should have a sticky where people who "lurk" can post their "hi, I'm following the debate, but dare not post/think arguing on the internet is retarded/won't post for some other reason"?

Hahaha whoanellie!! Who can forget her. She was class. Gotta give her credit, she took a beating and persisted far longer than I thought she would. Too bad she left ... her and TVD seemed like soulmates.

Hmmm ... perhaps we're becoming more sophisticated in our argumentation through experience? A debate team definetely becomes more adept through experience so perhaps, through experience, we implicitly know what arguments will "last" and what will be immediately discredited. Therefore our initial arguments unconsciously utilize more logic and research than what we would have normally posted when we first got to the board. Perhaps this is intimidating to those who might have been "like" us when we first got here, but are essentially "amateurs" in the present state of the PDD? For example, I know that I have become extremely careful, through experience, when I make definitive statements because if I'm talking out of my ass in the slightest I know that I'll have my ass handed to me because of the competitive, argumentative nature of the present day PDD. However, back in 2003, I'm sure I made a lot of pretty falacial remarks and assumptions (as a matter of fact I know I did when I reread some old posts) that I was never called upon. Anyway, arctic deserves a beating for completely ditching the PDD . I blame Renegade ... wasn't arctic his protege?

Isn't that one of the purposes of this thread ?

I hope you're wrong, since if you're right, we'll need some kind of PDD-kindergarten letting new members in. But you're probably right - after all, you wouldn't spew out BS like this if you thought it might be fallacious
Regarding 2003, I don't know why you would bring up that year? I don't remember much from it, apart from the fact that I dropped participating in the end of it. Was it in 2002 that we voted this place into existence? I remember that it was the year where Orbax had just joined up, and was acting like an ass in COR (ok, not much to go by, but at least "the year he joined up" must provide some hints), and John Smith got this beatiful idea. I seem to remember that we just about managed to gather 25 votes, and today we have far more posts beyond our belt than both the gaming and sports forum.
Back to topic: I've started stating much more unbacked BS recently. It seems like that is the only way to provoke some response nowadays.

What I love(d?) unconditionally about arctic, was that he was sooo intense and passionate about the debates he took part in, yet managed to do them in a most civilized, thoughtful, and orderly manner. His scolding of Nelly in a thread where she used the constitution as ultimate proof comes to mind as a great example. Similarly in the "gay vs. right wingers"-threads. Pure perfection.

Of course I wouldn't. Why would anybody think that? Unless they though I was drunk ... but that's a rare occurrence .

Well I think 2003 was when the forum started going up strong. Yes the forum started in October of 2002, but it was still taking baby steps at that point. Who was around at that point? John Smith, Spyder, Iron Dragon, Trancedfarmer, Renegade, Izzy, Trancgiant, Lira, desidel, LiquidX, You, Biz, and random CORs? I think the consistent regulars solidifed towards the end of 02. Every now and then I always look up John Smith (our "founder") to see if he's ever around. Unfortunetely he seems to have abandoned us for married life . By the way, I don't think I participated in the vote ... do you have a link to that?

Yea a lot of topics have become too tedious to refute. I admit I've become far more lazier than I used to be ...

He did get in good arguments with Nellie .

Yeah, I've noticed the same thing...not that speak out of my ass less than I used to, infact I think I'm doing it more now, but that speech is somehow more coherent than it has been earlier. Maybe we should ask Lira to delete all those threads older than a year so that some newbie doesn't accidentally stumble upon our old posts and sees that we've been so weak and human-like in the past.
And Itarille is a girl? Well god damn it, she should post more! Even if it doesn't make any sense. As long as she provides us with pics!
