Ok, this would be the good place to do this:

I need to take my 3rd quarter vacation, so I'm looking for some ideas of what to do.

I have to stay in the USA (don't ask! damn interpol! )
Ideally it'd be of about a week in length. Typically I don't like staying in one place more then 4 or so days though during vacation (I see a little so I feel I have a lot come back and see).

I don't mind flying or driving. But the cheaper, the better

I'm leaning on Hawaii (but don't know anyone there, plus when I can get out of the USA, Mexico and the Caribbean are so damn close and cheaper - and its summer so IMO it sort of defeats the purpose) or maybe an East Coast/Florida trip.

haha, your crappy visa doesnt allow you to leave the country right?

I would recomend california or the east coast (ie go washington - new york - boston - maine)... donno what you are interested in tho, big cities, mountains, whatever? anyway, i have only been in like 7 states so i guess someone else knows more than me here

I'm going to Cozumel in about 3 weeks . I've largely given up vacationing in the US (poor rate of return on my investment), but if I had to pick given your location I would consider: Arizona (grand canyon/sedona), New Orleans, South Padre Island (I'm sure you've been there), Napa Valley, or the Florida Keys.

But yea, I can leave, I just can't get back in. And since I'm finally about to recieve my greencard... I'd prefer not to roll the dice.

Well cities you can fly into and are fun but it helps to know someone there at least some "aquaitnace". Natural scenic stuff you can do more easy with a buddy, but its more boring at my age.

Haha, yea I agree - good choice too. That's why it's hard for me to come up with vacation plans in the USA - you always feel a sucker about it. Mexico is fun

Haven't done Napa or Florida. But I have been in California, I don't mind it too much, but I swore I'll never go back to LA.

I'm only here because my parents and brothers are here. If it was anywhere but bad-ass Texas I'd probably be back in Israel in the army right now making a career out of the Palestinians
