i was never really into the sorta trance that came out post 1997 (with a few minor exceptions), so i doubt that question is targetted at me, but regardless, i still listen to and buy oldschool trance, aswell as music from all genres prefixed acid.. generally listen to everything edm, and then some (jazz being the main exception), and lastly, music is still more important to me than oxygen.

thats an awesome story tathi! you da man! haha, thats pretty ballsy to avoid security like that. id be too much of a scaredy cat i reckon!
the problem is, theres nothing better than lying on your bed with your headphones on, listening to deep melodic prog whilst youre offa. cant get enough of it. actually, all popular culture is more fun whilst stoned.
There was no way i was going to miss one of the sets of the year
I try to smoke only socially, cause i can see myself getting very addicted if i had a stash at home because as you say there is nothing better than listening to deep melodic prog while you're baked
Pot can be good in certain social situations, when i was travelling through South East Asia there was nothing better than passing around a joint while sitting at a Resteraunt in Laos or Cambodia, eating amazing dishes of food that were only $1US (Longnecks of beer were also $1) and then chatting about Politics, Philosophy, the meaning of life, etc, with backpackers from all around the world who have fascinatingly different view points to yourself. It tends to incite very interesting conversations so long as you've not had tooo much

Rarely listen to the uplifting stuff anymore, but i do enjoy some of the seminal stuff that came out in the mid 90's. Trance has become way to commercialised :/

Thanks . Yeah, I'm sure their list of banned IPs got deleted too so now you can join again .
EDIT: I'm 16 minutes into the set. So far so good.

I'm pretty much the same when it comes to Trance. Most of it pretty much sucks nowadays , except M.I.K.E, J00F, and maybe a few others. I'm waiting for that Andrew K set to get done since you mentioned him before, comparing his style to Nick Warren's. I've been listening to alot of Holden and Sasha lately. They're experimenting with some pretty interesting stuff these days . I can't wait to see Digweed this September .

Hmm... Interesting... I just found out after reading an interview with Sasha that Sasha & Digweed didn't use a conventional turntable-mixer setup to mix Northern Exposure but used Pro-tools. Eigther way, I don't think eigther one of them needs to prove their DJ skills and NE's still one of the best compilations I've ever heard.

You know, I was going to say I didn't listen to trance anymore... but I'm glad to say Nou (yes, Nou) reminded me of why I like trance.
Or rather, eurodance.
This is by far, the most interesting song I heard this year slower than 145 BPM.

I'm not.
And, in case you're puzzled, here's the explanation:
First of all, the song is catchy - I've been playing it for the last hour non-stop. It's simple, cheesy and not even the producer takes it seriously. The whole thing is taken as a joke, from the lyrics talking about an internet bot to the video showing a "boat in a channel" (Christ, what a bad pun ). Besides, I used to love eurodance back in the day, and I love the retro feel of this tune.
I never managed to get into "prog", for example, because of its boring rhythm and lack of fun. It can't even brag about being musically interesting, because it's not (is there any real "inovation"?), although it pretends it is.
You probably realised I said it was the most interesting tune slower than 145, and that's because Acid Techno is still fun. NRG is just party music, and it's aware of this. Most punk rock is, well, punk rock.
And drum'n'bass, you like it or not, seems to have this inherent experimentalism... which is lacking in recent 4/4 genres.

@ St_Andrew: My mom emailed me a bunch of pictures so I finally have one of myself on my computer. You can use this to update the PDD frapper thing since I didn't have one back then (where the hell did that thing go anyways?) https://webspace.utexas.edu/zaidiia/public/warwick.JPG
