Free to do so, but mostly unwelcome. So I don't.
That isn't true. I, for one, would appreciate the opportunity to stop talking about only the US election and use my International Affairs degree here.
But every time I've tried to post a thread about somewhere other than the Middle East (meaning where the US has troops) or the US itself, it never gets any hits. It would be nice to change that. I think the PDD has become very US-centric, and it's a shame since this is an international forum and has such great potential.
And I think almost everyone here is tired of the American conspiracy crap.

my theory behind mm/dd/yyyy is that it is more important to know the month before the day. knowing that it is february is more telling than knowing it is the 26th. that's just my theory. although i agree simply based on logic mm/dd/yyyy makes no sense considering the day is the small of the time units displayed. i personally like yyyy/mm/dd.

I don't know, maybe I'm already used to dd/mm/yyyy to such an extent that I think it's much more important to know the day than the month, because the month changes less frequently, and it's less usual to forget what month we're in.
And I like yyyy/mm/dd too, but I must admit I only got used to it after learning Japanese...

I don't have a degree so people find it easier to beat on me instead of my argument, (which in a semi-formal argument I win by default: punching the opposition is not allowed) but I'd rather not cop the abuse.

Its a waste of time, people just aren't interested in anything outside their own backyards.

Was kind of funny for awhile, up until you realise that they are genuinely serious about it, then refuse to go away realising that someone is paying attention to them (for once) and lack the good graces to make any kind of civility that might be actually taken seriously.
Of which I will, then people can go back to objectifying and belittling women instead of talking to them because the .jpg's don't sass you about or whatever dodgy shennanigans the PDD forum gets up too.

I don't recall anyone doing that, too bad you take criticism to your arguments personally.

I wouldn't mind if everybody switched to yyyy/mm/dd since i always organise everything in that order anyway but mm/dd/yyyy always boggled my mind.

Meh. I pretty much write anyone off who can't do mathematics and problem solving, which includes most college graduates; masters and doctorates alike. I don't think it has to do with having a degree, but studying hard science in college is one of the few things that earns respect in my eyes.
