I learned that the first time I sparred with a friend of mine who trained in Valetudo, Boxing, Judo, Muy Thai and some Philipino style who's name I don't recall (and he's a bit of a monster as far as size and strength go). When it came to the groud he clearly knew exactly what he was doing and all I could think was "oh fuck" . Don't worry, our system is pretty well rounded. It's got everything from striking, grappling, groundfighting to weapons. I just need to spend more time doing those. My reasons for doing kung fu, other than when I started, has always been all the benefits unrelated to combat (I'm not saying it's not important to train for combat, just not my primary purpose of doing it ).
