well, a lot of the stuff has a signature of 4-4, even if the beats arent in a 4-4 pattern. i find mixing a breakbeat with a 4-4 to be easier than mixing two 4-4's. basically you only have to pay attention to 1 beat per bar, instead of 4

I follow the snare in and not the bass kick, technically most D&B is still 4-4, it just has 1-2-33-4.
2 & 4 being the snare or kick drum and 1 & 3 the syncopated drum kicks off the measure... course it's been about 10 years since music classes in school so I may be wrong!

Mixing House into Break is quite simple, as Lilith stated, use the snare to match.

you can hear exactly what I mean with the sample above.
You can actually hear the bass drum is not the main focal of the mix, but yet the snare. THats what gives it that; boom, snare, boom, boom, boom, snare, boom, snare, boom, boom, boom and so forth. I would not recomend learning from that. The ability to mix like that comes with getting just the basic beat matching down. Once you get that, than you can start messing with other aspects of beat mixing.

Now of course this means nothing, if you are strictly an "MP3" Jocky...

EDIT: Yeah, nice tip on mixing breaks in to a set. I've done it before and it's actually quite simple after a few tries . What other styles/sub-generes do you mix in your set dude (other than electro and tech house ofcourse)?

That was interesting.Very good actually.It's gonna take me tons of practice to learn to beat match.But i'm getting my turntables soon so yay!!!

I think Lilith, even though my taste is competely different, has pretty good taste in music and her sets indicate to me atleast that she could make a pretty decent DJ with a fairly original style. So yeah, keep practicing Lilith. And if you have the motivation, buy some equipement eventually, even if you plan on doing it just as a hobby or something on the side.

EDIT: Basic beatmatching just takes a bit of practice, there more often you practice, the better. Other DJing and mixing skills are also that'll come with time. Simply put, if you really enjoy it, keep at it!
