Thats what Toronto gets when they actually try and defend a lead. It was the biggest mistake they made that game.....the only good thing about the game is that I have Gionta in one of my hockey pools

oh come on now. That was a horrible display and they do it EVERY time. If they could manage to hold the lead and win a game I wouldn't have said anything Scott..lol
I was actually cheering for them. I hate NJ.

I'm pretty sure Peddie will just bring in some other knob of a GM. Why make a winning team when you sell out anyways? If attendance starts to drop, then just get some good players so they come off as a team that has a chance, and just blow it in the end. That way they'll have another 10 years of sellout crowds.

The whole sell out thing means nothing for them making a winning team. A winning team is only better for their pockets....playoffs mean extra money....and since they will always meet the top end of the salary cap its not that they can spend more money to get players....they need a GM who actually knows something.
Toronto will never have a problem selling out.....if every single season ticket holder gave up their tickets today...they would all be resold before the end of today and there would still be a lifetime waiting list.
The team has to rebuild and in todays NHL you cannot rebuild by trades or signing free agents...it has to be within the organization and Toronto has a terrible farm system and their drafting has been terrible.

i love the leafs so far this year.
exciting hockey, shots from fucking everywhere, and competetive in every game.
maurice has brought a certain edge to this team that was lacking when quinn was at the controls. i see good things for this team if they can stay away from the injury bug.

Top 50 maybe but not even close to a top 25 player. He isn't even a top 25 forward. Don't get me wrong...he is a good player and he makes the players he plays with better but he is far from a dominating figure out there that teams are scared of.
I'm a huge Leafs Fan but Toronto doesn't stand a chance when they can't bring in big name players.....and that is the problem. Ferguson is a bum and this will be his last season as GM and they need to get rid of Sundin because his contract is just too much....there are much better players out there making a lot less then Sundin.
I cant say i agree at all with your analysis of Mats Sundin, but I do agree that JFJ needs to go. If Sundin isnt a dominating figure out on the ice, who in the NHL is? He's huge, fast, and skilled. He has all the tools, and although he is getting old, he is still the player that other teams target to shut down our offense. Sure, there are better players out there, but not as many as you suggest. Mats plays both PP and PK, and is a horse out there.
Yes, he does make too much money considering his age, but, he is in the last year of his contract, and he's still producing offense at the same level (PPG) as he did 10 years ago. There are other players out there making much less money than Sundin, but
1) many of them are young and wont reach that pay level till theyre older
2) many of them signed their contracts after the new CBA, which imposes a limit. Mats Sundin wouldnt be able to sign the same contract today that he did years ago because it would big(%) compared to the salary cap.
