You can get by with 1g no problem, especially if you're producing.

Macs are expensive, but extremely reliable, its an investment not a toy.

And yeah, if you have any other questions just feel free to ask, given the figures you posted regarding your buget its certainly possible to get a great setup with that kind of money (especially in the UK).


My suggestion is, think of the BEST POSSIBLE SET UP YOU WANT, then slowly pick apart at it until you've narrowed it down to exactly what you NEED to get started, then gradually upgrade over time piece by piece.

i meant that every piece of analog equipment colours the passing signal. but for production some colouring is ok...

personally I think RP8s sound dull and have poor low-freq response

Dude.. that post is WAY off. In my huble dj/producer opinion.


When I produce i am often running 30+ channels on ableton with different effects on EACH channel.

if anything i'd say a gig would be enough for djing and the opposite for producing.

Making tunes works your cpu MUCH harder than playin' em.

not necessarily true...thats why you can freeze your vsts and use audio clips rather than individually generated sound peices...plenty of people get by using 1gb (including myself). although on a PC i guess what you're saying is true lol.
