I'm trying to figure out if that opening scene is a reference maybe to the previous episodes where he can contact that guy through Saul to 'disappear'. It makes me think of the closing act of the movie Heat where De Niro is leaving but can't until he settles one last betrayal. I almost think that's what's going on with Walt, that maybe he disappeared but has come back to tie up one last loose thread. Did anyone see anything in that scene that suggested where he was besides it being near the border?
I also feel like a bit of an idiot and surprised nobody else noticed last season that the lab cameras would be an issue. Still, should be a good season.
Good combination of drama and comedy as always.

I just started watching it. The first episode of the first season was so slow. I'll see what goes on. People are saying Season 4 was really good. Plus I always the first episode of the 5th season, it got me interested in the show again.

I thought it was a pretty good opener imo!
Anyone else notice the photo of Gus and his good friend? Anyone think something more was going on between them? Why Gus had such a hard on for the cartel, etc.

Just watched it... so eager to see what Walt becomes!
At little slow for the premier, but I guess it needs to be to ease the viewers back into it. It did take a bit of shaking up my memory to remember everything from last season. Took a few minutes to even remember they torched the lab. And forgot that they tried to kill Hank...
I was actually trying to find a Season 1-4 recap, a video or something to show my mom so she can get into Season 4 (people at work talk about it).

AMC replayed every previous episode at least twice in the last few months overnight. I caught quite a few of them so was relatively refreshed.

I thought the premiere was great, really enjoyed it. As for Gus, I got the feeling his friend was more than a friend when Tio shot him, and think that it was a factor in how he became so cold and ruthless (having his heart broken so brutally).

Yep, I agree. We'll see if this theory pans out, but judging from the scene with the photograph, it's going to play a part in the season.

Premiere was good but I wonder how long it'll be before they start churning out the crank again...

That was a great season premier! Really digging Walt’s new rugged look lol. Can’t wait to see what he’s got planned with that massive machine gun! Some unfinished business I presume...
I agree with SPANIARD – I did NOT recognize Ted in the hospital but I’m pretty sure it really is him. Man, he really got fucked up! Hopefully he stays out of Walt’s & Skylar’s business from now on. I like when Skylar said sternly at the end of their conversation: “Good.” – She’s done with that d-bag!
One of the reasons I love Breaking Bad is the way that Walt, Mike and Jessie interact. They play such unique and different characters yet they combine to form a very solid group. They complement each other very well. At first I really did think that Walt was going to conjure up some sick and twisted plan to get that lap top back – and he really was going to until Jessie proposes his ultra magnet plan!
He said it in almost a jokingly impossible way but low and behold!
The scene where Mike is feeding the chickens and the guy comes up to him with the bad news – quick scene change to Mike ripping it down the dirt path before almost colliding with Walt and Jessie lol. Intense!! Loved that part.
I love Walt’s certainty in his execution and back up/assurance for every plan. Everything was untraceable salvaged parts – pure genius!
Did anyone see or read what the message was on the picture of Gus and his friend? Was that a secret code or something?
The burnt lab was awesome to see in its after math stage. So well designed and constructed. Another reason why I love this show! Oh and the camera POV angles (when Walt tossed the bomb parts and plant in his trunk and you should see him tying the bag up – such a neat angle).
Can’t wait for next week’s episode!

It's gotta be soon, as Walt is pretty much broke atm. He can't be borrowing money from Jesse constantly.

Christopher Cousins is credited in the episode so I'm pretty sure it was the same actor that played Ted.
And I paused at that part of the episode with the picture frame. It says BancSuisse in the Cayman Islands and gives a few account numbers.

Think I saw something about Cayman Islands, so perhaps a bank account?
Edit: Didn't see post above me haha.
