Cosmopolis is ridiculously good and hilarious. I was laughing my ass off at half the nonsense all the characters spouted and some of the best moments were genuinely shocking and incredibly funny. At the same time it's all pretty dark and a brilliant satire of collapsing capitalism.
I haven't seen a better film this year, excuse me while I go buy the DeLillo novel.
Also, Pattinson is great here and his confrontation with Giamatti is the best. And the final shot, Jesus...
The overall tone of this is absurd comedy from start to finish. Don't go in expecting drama.

I think I got the tix 30 min after lcd system announced the new showings on facebook. It was really quite fortuitous - I wasn't on the look out or anything. Just logged on, saw it on the mini-feed and said "whoah. sure. let's do it"

Watched a couple of crackers in the last few days.
Detachment:
Melancholic and heartbreaking, truly moving and one that will stay with you long past the end credits.
God Bless America:
Frighteningly current. Funny yet thought provoking, seemed to highlight everything I already thought was wrong with 'society'. An absolute classic. Watch this if you only watch one film this year.

watched Dark City a few weeks ago. pretty cool.
loved the Noir meets future meets utopian/dystopian society feel that develops
Just watched A Street Car Named Desire while reading along with the original screenplay in hand. I'm usually not a fan of the black and white stuff, but I enjoyed this film. I can't recall watching anything with Marlon Brando in it before, so this was a first.

I can't stand Hanks and this has "oscar bait" all over it, but I know I'm going to love it nonetheless. The book is fantastic and Wachowskis are great storytellers. In the trailer you can already see how are they probably going to blend the individual storylines (around 0:30, manipulation of the mise-en-scene similar to what they did in Speed Racer).
