Can only go one way. Terrible yet somehow making enough money to spawn 4 more remakes, 2 of which will go straight to dvd and the 4th will end up on SyFy.

just a quick gripe. when they changed the name from "SciFi" to "SyFy", i was pretty upset with it. the label sounds real cheesy.

I'm torn here because I hate remakes of classics, the movie is produced by uber douche Michael Bay, but the trailer looks well done and the director is some dude who's experience has been a couple hundred music videos. Could go either way... I don't know. Thoughts?

It's going to be awful.

It looks like they have copied some exact scenes from the original as well. For me, this will be incredibly boring, but I'm sure the target audience will love it, mainly because none of them would of even seen the original.

Yeah I agree, something to do with them wanting to change their branding beyond just science fiction stuff. I dunno.

By changing the name to Syfy, which remains phonetically identical, the new brand broadens perceptions and embraces a wider range of current and future imagination-based entertainment beyond just the traditional sci-fi genre, including fantasy, supernatural, paranormal, reality, mystery, action and adventure. It also positions the brand for future growth by creating an ownable trademark that can travel easily with consumers across new media and nonlinear digital platforms, new international channels and extend into new business ventures.

"Imagine Greater" will become the new brand message and tagline, inviting both consumers and advertisers into a new era of unlimited imagination, exceptional experiences and greater entertainment.

I swear some people in branding just like to hear their own ideas, because all of that sounds like hogwash.

haha... yeah I guess you're right. I was having a bit of nostalgic hope, mostly because special effects are so much better today. And, I do like the guy that's playing Freddie; he's getting all the creepy roles these days.

I thought aspects of the Friday the 13th remake were very well done. The opening sequence with the sleeping bag over the fire was excellent, and got me pumped, but the rest slowed down a lot. The cinematography was very well done in parts... the scene with the girl water skiing captured the 70's golden summer look to a T. Overall it could've been much better of course, but I like to give credit where it's due.

Plus that one boob scene was the shiiiiiit.

As for the Nightmare remake, I'm skeptical. Freddy was my hero when I was growing up. I'll go see it with an open mind though. I want to like it.
