Nearly all Australian capital cities are coastal, except for 'the' capital city, Canberra. I don't know how much the coastal thing has to do with the laid back lifestyle here though. The nearest beach that I would want to swim at would be the Gold Coast, or if I go north (slightly further, the Sunshine Coast, which is where i grew up). The ocean off most of Brisbane consists of mud-flats/mangroves, which aren't that nice.
And we do have a good selection (sometimes, lol) of music availability, not all mnml frks
I tend to believe that coastal living seems to mellow people out. I lived in an interior city growing up, but some friends have since moved down here and they have mellowed out too. It is just so much different.
