if that was the intent of your question then the answer is an obvious yes; you want to have things in common with people you are in a relationship with, whether they are friends or something more

How do you mean? Like with previous partners? A few of my ex-gfs had a similar interest in music as I did. I wouldn't say it's hugely important in a relationship though. It's nice, of course, but like Jonmitz is saying, it's certainly not the most important factor or anything.

It certainly makes it easy to break the ice in the beginning though, I have to say. We instantly had tons to talk about.
