Those bose sound docks are stellar. I bought one for my sibling last christmas and was blown away at how well it fills a room.

Ive decided im going to buy one for myself to carry to cottage parties/hotels etc.

This for sure. If you don't mind dropping the money I haven't heard anything that packs more of a punch that a Bose into a docking station. Total overkill for an alarm clock type thing but so handy for when you're away from home like feelgood is saying...

If you are willing to drop money on a Bose system then I would consider something from B + W (pretty much the same pricepoint). Amazing sound & design and IMO a notch better than BOSE.

One thing that might be worth considering too is for quite awhile I've heard rumours that the iPhone 5 will change the cable plugin. If you plan on getting that, might want to wait and see.
