Is this progressive trance?

Hi guys, I grew up with Trance from 1997 and now there are so many variations of it. To get up to speed with the new trance- is this really PROGRESSIVE trance? And do you think that every tune in this set sounds the same??https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1yAqLmt9R1s

It's not a real progressive trance, is it? Where can I find real progressive trance these days to listen to?

Tinlicker sounds so pretentious it gets my blood up. Like it ticks all the boxes of exaggeratedly emotional "trance" of the lower BPM kind that caters precisely to the needs of anjunatrance semi-hipster folk.

There really is nothing original or surprising there. It is so utterly predictable it is in fact the polar opposite of anything that is "progressive" in nature and intent.

This should be played in bathrooms as it belongs in the toilet.

Ah, an 'is this progressive?' thread, that will mutate into 'that isn't progressive,' which eventually devolves into 'what is progressive?' This is truly what makes TA, TA. See you on all on page 30.

I had never heard of them before clicking the link. I skipped right to the middle and thought 'this is actually pretty good.' Then I realized it was an entire set. Then I realized the TL was all their productions. And then that they all sounded the same. Nice, but, yeah- moving right along now.

It does indeed. It all basically sounds the same, too. As long as your trance isn't of the steroid kind you can call it "progressive" these days, is the impression I get. A lot of them kids fanboying this kind of "trance" will probably give you a blank look if you'd tell them of music that isn't entirely formulaic using the same sounds everywhere. Where are the sidechains!? Why doesn't this sound like all the other tunes I have!?

This thread posted today announcing the release of a track on a label called "Progressive Vibes" and it's just bland, formulaic "EDM"-style stuff. The thousandth variation on the same theme.

Alternatively I've lost track years and years ago.

Tinlicker produces a lot of simplistic but catchy tunes. I do think they are very overhyped though.

The way I would describe Progressive Trance. Its basically Progressive House but with the Trancey vibes. Think those Trance melodies and breakdowns.

Artists like Gai Barone or Jerome isma-ae produce tracks that give you those progressive house vibes with Trance flavors. Even artist like Forerunners.
