i'm dl open office as we speak, can't stand the bloat of msoffice, hopefully this isnt slow and clunky like most apps in java.
All i want is something simple and fast that has the basic features required to do word processing. |

Notepad should do :p
And it's rock solid! Never crashes :p |

Open office is not written in java. It does have some java components but you dont need them for regular stuff. |

I'd use wordpad if only it had a spell checker. Looking for something in between a caveman's stone wheel and Nasa's space shuttle.  |

And yes, open source software is better then the stuff made by greedy programmers who only do it for the money. The world would be better off without money. That's why we need Communism here in America. |
