i was just thinking, what if we actually found the cure for cancer? first, it would raise our morale to know we actually participated in a project that had this positive research. would we actually get any kind of money? everyone with cancer would buy these pills or serum or whatever, wouldn't the income be so much internationally that every single participant got a prize?
the likely possibility that no participant would get any money discourages some potentionals because "i don't get anything in return if it happens." i'm not asking for a prize, i think it's great enough that i participate in something that may potentionally help another human life, and that is the ultimate prize... |
i know this is a late reply but i don't check this thread much and i wanted to comment on this...
i really don't care about personal compensation... i never expected any money from this.... BUT if we did find a cure for cancer through this project, rest assured that the drug companies will take the sick for a ride... i mean a real ride... someone is gonna get real rich off this someday... and THAT is what bothers me... i don't know how much this project will slash research and develpment costs for the pharmaceutical companies, but i'd really like to see those savings passed down to those in need. |

I have joined as well. I havn't been doing it long, but for the number of hours I've dedicated, I seem to be generating a disproportionately large number of results. :) |

What an absolutely wonderful cause this is, I hope it works very well, my sister is a Cancer sufferer (believe what you want, but I know she is), her treatment stopped a couple of months ago and we get final results in July to determine if its permanently gone or not.
Lets hope a cure for cancer arrives soon. |

I'm in the middle of reading Michio Kaku's Visions. It's an optimistic book about the future of humankind. I highly recommend it to be enlightened on the possibilities to come -- fighting cancer will require MUCH computing power and the devoted resources of our unity. It's a problem that involves all of us, and therefore, the solution involves all of us as well.
Read more about Michio Kaku here; I believe he is one of the smartest human beings on the planet:
http://www.mkaku.org
While his specialty is physics, the thing about today's science is that a problem in one field may be cracked with a solution coming from another. Thus, why unity is so important.
There are many kinds of cancers and perhaps some viable methods of attacking them will come years from now, but nevertheless, it will take a lot of work.
In the meantime, things like physical exercise, a healthy diet, warm and loving social relationships, keeping up-to-date with the latest medical developments, and of course, a positive mindset will help us. :D |
