Can someone explain this to me? I get that they sing it as a rally song, great...lots of fun. But what's the point of getting people that a) don't know the words (wtf how is that possible) and b) butcher the song beyond recognition. Is it THAT hard to sing or does the Cubs PR guy tell them to just be an absolute jackass? |

It's a Cubby tradition to get a celebrity to sing it. The late Harry Caray, a sportscaster, started it with the White Sox and then with the Cubs. He used to do the song at every home game until he died. It's not hard to sing at all. The celebrities just suck ass.
Here's a fun fact I learned some time ago: The song was written in 1908 - the last year the Cubs won the World Series. |

manny ramirez will have time to sing it now.
why not have stuff like this at games to keep the crowd entertained? The game sucks at that part:p |

I just find it hilarious that every celeb they get to sing the game has to A) read the lyrics off a card and B) butcher the song horribly. Maybe if they got someone quality to sing the song the Cubbies might win a world series.
lolno that will never happen |
