Well another WMC for the books folks. Lets here the war stories.

Thank you to everyone who helped out with this years planning in the WMC Forum.

Its was great meeting new TA's & hanging with my reg WMC party peeps...

First off, thanks TA for providing so much useful information (the post about buses along must of saved me a lot of $'s).

My (first) WMC was awesome. I've learnt a few lessons about what to try and do and not to do but overall a brilliant time. I met a lot of cool people as well.

As for war stories, me and another guy I met WALKED to Ultra from Washington and 5th over the Bay because of the near stand-still traffic, just to see Swedish House Mafia, what a journey - we made it and yes it was worth it.

BEST EVER.

I can't believe its beat 2008 but this year was near-perfect.

Thursday
Got there way too late for the HARD party so we chilled for a bit, then got a tweet about the Trouble & Bass guys doing an instore 3 blocks from our hotel. Went to that, drank lots of free wine, saw Randy Jackson (lol) and had a good time. Got ready and went to the Fools Gold party at Grand Central. Duck Sauce (A-Trak & Armand Van Helden) were so good. Laidback Luke was the surprise guest after. Amazing night.

Friday
Lots of rain in the morning, got soaked trying to get to the car. Didn't care. Went to the beatport party for about an hour, got more soaked. Didn't care. Went to see BT at the Armani store. Went to The Raleigh for a private event with Static Revenger/Luciana and open bar sponsered by Alize. Got destroyed by all the Alize/Vodka drinks we had. Later that night went to Louis at Ganesvoort for the DIM MAK party. Another great night (but pricey).

Saturday
Hung out at the pool and beach, then headed to Ultra. I had no ticket, got there and it was sold out. My girl had a ticket. I panicked and tried for an hour to find a reasonable price. Most were going for $325 (and people were paying it). As I was ready to give up, a guy held up a ticket and said who needs 1? I said me, he said $200. Before I could pull my money out some other guy ran up with cash in hand, but the guy selling said sorry, i'm already dealing with this guy (me). I don't know how I got so lucky to have an actual nice guy selling it. I only had $190 on me and he let me have it. Then I saw ING ORBITAL. nuff said.

Sunday
Chilled at Do-Over downtown in the afternoon where Maceo from De La Soul was DJing a killer funk set.

Now i'm back at work.
AMMORA
i swear i have the WMC death cold from hell curse! two years in a row, i make it to Friday evening and then BAM, fever, chills, serious cough, head throbbing...but damn if i didn't live it up this year!!!!

THANK you to all my fellow TA's who came for our Mojito Meet Up on Wednesday night before OVUM (ovum of which got cut dramatically short for me due to the lovely fire marshall issue and my lack of patience..)
It was awesome to meet you guys and I gained new partners in crime for Friday's Balance Party @ the Victor Hotel rooftop (:thepirate Lindsay & Mikey <3 you guys!!!)

Manny, as always, thank you soooooo much for your Miami hospitality
:-D

Party highlights include--
SOS TIKKI, which was SO freaking awesome, as soon as I can get my videos and pics uploaded I will. As with all LISTED parties, this was one for the record books. It was awesome that SOS actually seemed to enjoy working together haha and ALL 3 actually showed up on time...threw down some awesome tracks and couldnt have had better weather...cruised past the Cosmic Gate yacht a few times, seemed like they were enjoying the party :)
VIVA on the space terrace (now fully air conditioned! A+++) absolutely blew my mind. I understand why everyone spazes over Lawler, he Effs you through your ears nice and hard haha. Radioslave is my current obsession so it was awesome to hear a live set finally. That guy is insanely underrated and talented. Was very good to see my fellow TA's for this party.

BALANCE release party for Agoria was the best daytime party I've ever been to---and quickly carried into one of the best nighttime small parties ever. Joris Voorn--how the eff did I never hear this guy before?!!?!?! THREE was on point and really fun. Agoria tore it up, I get the hype...and he lives up to it.

GET LOST on Saturday morning, left me a little worse for wear...thank you ever so much to the lifesaver that is Benji! Once I got refueled I felt good...got outside to the back patio for SoulClap (sp?), who is on my list now to fully explore...I'm thinking this guy is gonna explode this year and def should! THEN THE CRACKHEADS came outside..and the sound kept coming and going...and it just got more and more and more strange..tweeked out...dirty...smelly..grimey...seedy..you name it, it was there..def not the mickey mouse end of WMC. INTERVENTION could film and entire season there. EVERY anti-drug commercial that you thought was an exaggeration growing up...yea, those people are REAL and were at Get Lost haha. Its not like SSFD where everyone has been partying for 4-5 days straight and is just beyond the brink...these were people I suspect party 24/7-365 for the past 10 years...and just wandered into the back yard b/c they smelled booze and heard bass...Get Lost is an understatement...esp loved the actual crackhead major butch lesbos in the bathroom crawling up the walls.
On another note, finally got to meet you MellyMel, very briefly, but nice to put a face to a name!

Crashed out til 4 and headed to Ultra, specifically for Faithless. Come to find out Ultra sold out by 3:30, so I really should have taken advantage of the market and sold the ticket in my hand for $300+ instead of fighting the fever and illness i was feeling to get inside, to the mainstage and for Faithless for a measly hour--but it was worth it! The new tracks are great and I really wish they would have spread themselves around to other parties during the week...Maxi said they'd be back (and when he says it, he means it) so *fingers crossed* the "rolling stones of electronic* will branch out and hit some parties during the week next year (Tong's pool party woulda be awesome for Bliss and Maxi)
Wanted to meet up with Acton and company, but my lungs/body/brain couldnt handle any more of well, ANYTHING so after Faithless, I grabbed the first cab I could find and was asleep in my hotel by 8pm on Saturday night during WMC...

it was an epic run. many things will be left unsaid ;-)
Best party schedule I've ever had and I actually made it to every party I bought tix for A++ planning on my part and saved a ton of money I would have usually wasted thanks to friends and smart planning.

So sad its over, but being bundled up at home in cleveland with hot tea and miso soup has never felt so good.
I felt like alice tripping down the rabbit hole wednesday thru saturday...and I suppose thats the best WMC outcome possible--wake up and feel like it was all this awesome crazy out of this world dream with the best friends, great music, and incredible memories.
See ya next year :tongue2  :tongue3 :eyespop:

I am going through post depression phase. :(

Incredible. So good, but would not have been possible without TA. Thanks to everyone for making it happen and Manny for keeping the threads alive.

Now I know everyone's real names and not their TA names (well some I do)

Mike & Matt (UK), Shireen (Kentucky), Jorie (LA), Tim (DC Trance), Dan, Germaine (sp?), William, Mikey (TO) if you have FB, PM me with your last names so I can find you. Already have Ammora and Lindsey. I have some good pics and vids that I uploaded/am uploading.

Going into withdrawal/rehab to get ready for ASOT 450....break out the vitamin water.

BTW, this is Rohan
Laila.OC
Thank you to everyone on here who posted all kinds of great info for noobs like me!!! I had an amazing first WMC and i'm already counting down for March 2011. hahaha.

I got pictures with Laidback Luke, who was just chillin outside of the FountaineBleu when we got dropped off, my gfs got a picture with Tiesto inside of Liv and also talked to Bart B More who was walking down the street near Cameo. He was so nice and took a pic too :) sorry i get a little star struck when i see my favs!

Calvin Harris and Afrojack were faningtastic @ Liv and Tocadisco rocked it at Space!

i have soooooo many videos that will be up in a few days (youtube: ThaiPrincessLaila)

Wow... Just got back to town.. What a blast again this year!

Wednesday Morning - Got to Miami at 8am just in time for Resolute's Hush Hush secret lineup afterhours affair at Electric Pickle... Since it was an unannounced lineup I was hoping for some madness... Got there and the place was packed from wall to wall in the downstairs room.. On the decks is none other then Adam Beyer, Ida Engberg, and Alexi Delano all tagging b2b.. Insane! :disbelief Only Resolute ing starts conference with a lineup like this.. The madness ensued for 4-5 more hours dropping gritty tech bombs well into the afternoon which we then headed back to the hotel for some R&R by the pool.. :toocool:

Wednesday Night - Culprit and Freak n' Chic at Grass was the party to be at.. Grass is a awesome venue but it definitely could have been louder in my opinion.. Droog started the night with there signature LA groovy tech house, which is always a treat.. Next was Jamie Jones and Lee Foss busting out Hot Natured Live, consisting of disco fueled tech house to keep the sounds grooving.. Closing the night though Freak n' Chic made the everything complete.. Dan Ghencia, Shonky and Dyed Soundorum all tagged for the last 3 hours.. FnC's Parisian tech funk jazz house got the place going nuts.. Dyed has some tracks which are funking insane... Needless to say I danced my ass off.. :tongue2

Thursday - Since I had been up for 48 hours straight (worked on tuesday) I took advantage of the afternoon to catch up on some rest.. Got up at like 11pm to head to Blue Collar Party at EP.. Eclectic lineup of bad ass house and techno artist.. Got a chance to catch Konrad Black, Justin Martin, Christian Martin, Riva Starr, Audiojack, apendics shuffle, and some others.. Awesome time.. One of the coolest parties to network and meet other artist and friends.. Tons of people there! Place was packed on both floors and the music was top notch at EP as usual.. ;)

Friday - Got a special invite after Blue Collar to come back to the 41st floor in Downtown Miami to enjoy a private party with Mr. Christian Martin on the decks.. about 30 people relaxed to some groovin San Francisco funk while watching the sunrise and overlooking all of Ultra, Bayside, SoBe, and all of Miami.. Its really what WMC is all about.. Such amazing views! It rained all morning so Techno Marathon was basically a wash because it was mostly outside.. Still some came to support the underground techno scene.. The real gem was the Supplement Facts Boat Party on the Aqua Luxury Yacht.. after sprinting to reach the departure we were treated to a groovy sexy porn star deep funky house set from Mr. Seth Troxler who jammed for a good 2 hours and had to boat kicking.. dOp Live came on next (i asked... they don't care how you pronounce it.. dope, d o p, d OP)... the live craziness ensued as they took over the mic and MC'ing to beat they whirled the crowd into a frenzy.. Awesome show.. then the captain himself Guy Gerber and proceeded to play puppetmaster with all of the passengers on the ship.. People we literally hanging from the rafters as he destroyed with his tech/house madness.. He even kept going after they docked the ship.. Everyone who left missed an epic ending.. Amazing ing time on the boat! :eyes:

Saturday - Time to Get Lost.. Easily the most anticipated show of conference for the lineup alone.. 14 hours of Crosstown Rebels carnival of chaos.. It really was a carnival.. a freak show for that matter.. the most colorful people from all walks of life come to enjoy the sounds of the rebels.. Soul Clap opened up the outside early with some fresh deep groovin house music.. Killer way to start the outside stage in the morning.. They are definitely going to blow up soon... Damian Lazarus followed Konrad Black in the mainroom killed many many braincells with their relentless grinding sounds.. Mr C broke out his shamen magic for hours.. Glimpse Live was sickness and the icing on the cake was Jamie, Seth, and Damian tagging to end the day.. People were burnt, mangled, tired, sweaty and disgusting and everyone ing loved it.. LOL @ Shovel and Bag of Flour marked "K" being passed around backstage.. Only at Get Lost!

Sunday - Back to School as usual.. Got up early to catch DJ T, Adam and Ida, Soul Clap and many others.. Ice Palace was top notch and the sound in the mainroom was the best of conference.. Tons of people there this year.. Probably a few thousand made it out for this epic event.. The best sets I saw were Matthias Kaden Live, Danny and Lee, Function, Troxler, Agoria, but hands down Paco Osuna ing killed it.. I mean.. Holy .. He worked the Integral sound experience to the max.. I need to catch him again soon... :eyespop:

By the end.. My feet were bloody, bruised, and I could barely walk.. Making to the car, let alone the hotel was a challenge.. Im glad my WMC was an amazing time but unfortunately all at the expense of my camera.. I hope that someone who finds it will post my videos and pictures because there is some memorable moments on it.. Thank you to all the TA's for hanging out and having a great time.. Melly, Clovis, Ammora, Tree, Dan, Brian, Justin, Clem, Sarah, Jason, John, Andrew, Kevin, Bobby, Shelly, Highroller and all the others I met, I miss all of you and can't wait to do it all again soon.. :happy2: :tongue3 :gsmile:

Your Welcome! Glad I could come to the rescue.. I try to give fair warning to everyone going.. Get Lost - Not for the faint of heart..

WMC was awesome this year. I do not know how anyone could possibly complain as there was so much to choose from. I picked wisely & every party I went to was good. When you start your week with a Markus set & then end it with Corsten you know you are all good. While techno/tech-house was the dominant sound there was definitely enough trance to make any trancehead happy ;)

Well, for some reason - my WMC was very Sasha-themed this year. Granted I always check out Sasha and Digweed at Ultra, this year was an overdose of the infamous duo.

Sasha and Digweed @ Mansion
Day 1 was Thursday for me. I flew down from Atlanta in the early afternoon and was treated to the beautiful "hacienda"-styled Fairmont Hotel and Resort Turnberry Isle in Aventura. Made the trip to the Shelbourne to pick up tickets at the Will Call office - which for the most part did pay off. Then it was back to the hotel, ordered some ZA (Pizza) and relaxed in a quite meditative state until it was game time. At about 11pm we headed down to Mansion, quickly found a place to park and walked up to the lines outside. However, a quick question with the door guy - "where's the line if you already have a ticket?" - and we were in instantly. Once inside, I think we may have heard 2-3 Guy J tracks before Digweed was up near the decks moving stuff around. Then it started. The very slow intro and eventual mushroom cloud of music and crowd going nuts. We made the mistake of going upstairs to see how the view from up there was, but then Sasha got on. The dance floor was so packed - security wouldn't let people downstairs. Eventually after 2 or 3 attempts, we finally made it downstaris. From that point on, we stayed planted dead center of the dance floor about maybe 10 yards from Sasha and Digweed. Only downside of the night, some of the bar staff just sucked. Their tips went from Awesome to none really quickly. Also, I think I lot of the "Vodka" I had - was probably just water. Normally 3-4 vodka redbulls and I'm good. I easily had like 5, still felt pretty sober. So I switched to Jager (yes, Straight) because there's just no way you can hid that. Diluted Jager looks like diluted Jager, unlike Vodka. Anyways, back to the music... it was a 5 hour marathon set. Amazing crowd, everyone on the same level. The crowd was a single organism moving as one. It's a beautiful thing. Digweed played a remix of Holden and Thompson's - Nothing that was really good. Also he played DJ Hell - Je Regrette. No idea what Sasha played - but that sounds about right doesn't it.

Ultra Part 1 and Sander van Doorn, Paul van Dyk, and Gisuppe Ottavani @ Space
Day 2 started out nicely. No timeframe of when to wake up really. Just get to Ultra by 4pm. I underestimated the drink costs during WMC in Miami. Thus, we hit up a liquor store for some vodka and such. Left the hotel around 3:30, got to Ultra at 4-ish and the booze were in full effect (wasn't driving - don't worry). Friday night Ultra - not a lot to recall really. Kinda sampled a bit of everything - but Tiesto was fun to see considering it's been a few years. Will.i.Am was ok - but I was really hoping to hear "I gotta feeling (that tonight is gonna be a good night), but he didn't play it.
So then it was off to the hotel for a quick change of clothes and a mad-dash to Space. Space has been built up in my mind due to all the mixes I've heard from there - and not only that it's just like a big deal. So we get there, and we're in line... forever. Already had tickets - but noooooo. This wasn't Mansion. People who didn't have tickets got in before I did - which is really messed up. We showed up to space at about 1am, we finally got to the door at 2:15am. We handed off our tickets and then were told it's another $15 on top of the like $80 we've already paid. OMG! I was pissed. Reason: it's over two. I couldn't believe they would pull that crap. I made a decent arguement but they didn't care. Finally got in, and the club is sweet. You can be anywhere in that place and see the booth perfectly. Not only that, but the temperature is absolutely ideal. It was at times a bit chilly, but I wish more clubs were that cool and not a sauna. Oh yea, needless to say we completely missed Sander van Doorn because we were in line. It was great though to catch the back-end of PvD's set. He played some great songs... Flaming June, Marcel Woods, a mix of For an Angel.... truly one of the best PvD sets I've ever seen live. Just before Gisuppe went on, he walked by me so- I got to meet him. Pretty fun. So aside from the BS of Space, the night was still pretty amazing. Well almost, I started losing my voice from all the shouting over music and cheers, etc from all the partying. We walked out of the club at around 8am or so. Headed to the hotel and pretty much passed out immediately as I was in bed.

Ultra 2 and Sasha @ Shelbourne
Due to the previous night's festivities, Saturday began a little late. I was hoping to catch Sander van Doorn at Ultra since I missed him Friday night. Oops. We got to Ultra at he was already off. Caught a bit of Gareth Emery's set, but then it was a dash across the field to see Sasha and Digweed. Sasha started the set - which I can't recall the last time I saw that happen. Same starting song as Digweed started out with at Mansion. However, Sasha definitely added more of a drive to the set and quickly. I think it's 'track three' that I MUST find. It's such a great song and really driving. We were completely lost again in the roar and the beat of that what we call Sasha and Digweed. Eventually after the sauna effect kicked in, it was time to go say Hi to Armin van Buuren. I put it that way, as we got bored of him quickly. Some of his drives were fun, but there were too many break downs and honestly I've never been a fan of his mixing style. Song is going and doing it's thing and then - here's another song. So after a short period of time and a buzz kill, it was back to Sasha and Digweed to watch them finish up. It was really cool to see Sasha, John Digweed and Carl Cox all on the same stage at the same time. At this point in the day, we were starting to feel a bit tired. So we kinda walked around aimlessly and eventually wound up at Orbital. Granted you'd have to be really reminiscent to think they would play Halcyon, but I was kinda hoping for it. Pretty quickly the terrain of plastic water bottles, the dark lighting and overall lack of people in the general vicinity turned me off to the idea of watching their entire show. So we then wandered off to Swedish House Mafia, which was suprisingly good. I've been a fan of Steve Angello and Sebastien Ingrosso - but never knew what to expect of the trio. I was quite pleased. Then of course, it was time for the Mau5. Deadmau5 played some great stuff - and the cameos were fun. Little confused of the Tommy Lee connection - but it's still cool. Joel has quite a good sense of humor. When the melody of Ghosts and Stuff came in and the crowd goes nuts, he's sitting there being silly. Good times. At this point I've found the best way for me to communicate is through typing a text on my phone. My voice was almost completely gone, I could talk loud enough to be heard but it was really raspy and slighty higher in pitch. Ugh! We left a lil early to make yet another dash to the hotel to get changed for the final show of my WMC experience: Sasha at the Shelbourne/Shine.

Quick shower, etc - off to the Shelbourne. SoBe seemed dead when we showed, presumably everyone was in a club and not wandering the streets. Sasha was sold out - basically. Apparently people staying at the Shelbourne were allowed in free. But if your names on the list because your ex-gf is awesome, you got in free and they gave you 6 drink coupons and an apology that there are no more tables left. Bummer. I was kinda hoping to sit down for this one, but no worries VIP door man guy - you're really nice - and you gave me a bunch of drink coupons that will be put to good use. Thank you. In we go, Sasha was doing his thing. Charlie May/Spooky was hanging out on stage and going back and forth to the bar. Another solid set from Sasha, starting to recognize his tracklist - one song he played he played at Mansion as well - that was actually in my head before we got there. Gradually it became 5am, and he was done. We decided to step out by the pool because the Shelbourne definitely has that sauna effect thing going on. As I'm lighting up my cigarette, I notice Sasha is standing a few feet away with Spooky and can't seem to find his lighter. So, offer him the light and have a quick chat in my best prepubescent voice. Ahh! I hate it! I sounded ridiculous, but I got to meet Sasha. I was hoping to ask him about the two songs and also about the one we (TA) have posted in the unknown tracks section. After seeing him three times in one week, it was the prefect ending to my WMC experience. And getting a full free ride to Shine/Shelbourne somewhat made up for Space. It evened out. Only 363 days left to next year!

chillenandy321
Thanks WMC for not sleeping 3 days. Well worth it!!!

Hope to meet more TA's next year..
Clovis
By FAR the best WMC ofthe three I have attended so far, absolutely amazing, every party I went to was great, the vibe was genuine and people were just GOING for it and every DJ was on POINT and bringing their A-game.

Highlights for me:

- No Regular Play live with Greg Paulus playing live trumpet over a few tracks at the Hallucination party

- Opening the Hallucination party b2b with Droog, the room was packed from the blue collar party and I had a blast!

- Pedro & Rhadoo b2b @ Circoloco friday...been wanting to see these guys for ages and they were phenomenal, deep, beautiful music mixed absolutely flawlessly and with such grace and style, I was jizzing my pants like a little fanboy with each transition. All made better by the VIP area absolutely stacked with free booze!

- Soul Clap outside @ Crosstown Rebels Get Lost, absolutely KILLED IT with great slow and funktacular music.

- Jamie Jones b2b Lee Foss @ Electric Pickle after we miraculously rescued the disaster that was Hot Natured party from the absolute heads at the new PS14 who double booked the venue and ed us over completely. Carried on at the pickle and the guys just ROCKED it with old school disco, funk, R&B and everything in between, just spectacular and so much fun.

- Sunday school from Seth Troxler till close outside, great vibe, no rain, awesome sound, and fantastic music from everyone.

- Culprit vs. Freak N Chic going off absolutely perfectly at the beautiful Grass lounge, great party great people and a night to remember!

HAd so much fun this year and made great connections, new friends and solidified old friendships and made new bonds, and getting lots of great comments about my DJing and overall feeling the love and support. Looking forward to a great year if I can finally get some music out :)
