Diggers in Las Vegas?

Would SoCal show up?

I need to finalize a headliner for Vegas party in order to seal the deal with a certain casino.

This would be a one off special event, I would need someone like Diggers to make Vegas a success because the venue bar minimum is super high. Or else I would have to move everything to a different venue (which I don't want to do).

Vegas market is ed so it's a tough market to do something one off (which I just realized) even with all the connections I personally have, so my choices are limited to guys that are not locked into x y z casino/group/etc.

So to get a feel on the market, would people in LA SD SF etc etc come out?

Think about the question, don't just say yes just because. If everything was suitable for you x weekend, would Diggers be enough for you to make it a "Las Vegas" weekend?

All the cheese artists are locked up, and those guys are the ones that have the pull :/

In Las Vegas, it is unfortunately.

Everyone else is gobbled up. Las Vegas is one of the most ed up markets in the world.

I can honestly say that I am not doing this to make money.

In reality, I am doing this because I have a passion for the music. And I have had that passion for the past 14 years when I went to my first massive as some 15 year old high school kid trying to hook up with "raver" chicks. Not to mention all the nights I stayed up late in the late 90's WAITING to push record on the VHS player as soon as the show AMP on MTV show began.

If I had no interest in the music, I would have already given up yesterday after realizing the reality here in Las Vegas. I would drive home with my tail in between my legs after Morillos set tonight at Marquee, and I would end up classifying this trip as a "leisure trip."

But, I'm here until Monday. ;)

Obviously Diggers is one of my most favorite djs. But he's not as much of a draw as he used to be. It's tough to sell out a Wednesday night show at The Mayan let alone convincing socalers to travel to Vegas... i would thought :)

what other options do you have? digweed is also kind of expensive :(

Not many options.

Prydz was my main one, but he's taken. As soon as a certain casino knew I was talking to his agent, they shot Prydz an amount I couldn't even compete with.

DJs I can get for 5k in SD, want 50k out here. x y z casino/group/etc ed up the market for everyone by raising the market so high. This reminds me of the 2005 home inflation, but this Las Vegas EDM bubble is eventually going to burst in the next few years. Thing is by then I want to have something already in progress.

Fat Boy Slim
Sharam
Zabiela
Crystal Method
Moby
Chemical Brothers
Daft Punk (I can dream right?)

Are the DJs that other casinos didn't want, but that attract the bottle service clientele.

In order for me to break even on the party, I need to get a good deal on them.

Reality is, 99% of the EDM events here in Las Vegas are LOSING money. A successful event in this enviorment "breaks even."

Why do you think the events here in Vegas raised all their prices? Because they finally want to start breaking even or make a couple of dollars.

totally true and I can't wait for that bubble to burst because in the end, good music always wins. Good bye afrojack :)

FBS and Moby are probably the biggest commercial draws followed by Sharam but those guys are not as big of a draw as they used to be. Gonna need to get a lot sub-promoters involved utilize a lot of online marketing asap

I know.

Realistically, I need to solidify a headliner with in the next 2 weeks so I get support from the casino.

If I can't do that, I'm just going to throw the biggest and badest techno/tech House parties Vegas has ever seen at a small venue and hope that I break even lol

If Digweed was at a club in Vegas a couple of nights before EDC, I would do it. The Casino rooms are super cheap earlier in the week before EDC, so why not turn the week into SMC (Vegas Summer Music Conference)?

Now watch someone tell me this isn't possible since Insomniac booked DJ's can't play in Vegas 12 months either side of EDC...

I just don't understand what are you trying to do. You are doing a one-off event in Vegas, and asking SoCal, SF loyal EDM supporters to go to your party, and you want to do non-cheese EDM music there.

Issues:
1) Vegas is the worst place for doing non-cheese EDM party.
2) One-off is problematic; by definition you are not building anything long-term or solid.
3) Why not have it in your backyard, SoCal, or even SF? I don't know about SoCal. I am sure you can draw much better with Diggers in SF. If you understand how things work in SF, and work with the right people here, you can have a cracking party, EVEN initially when you have low attendance. I have seen it numerous times, cracking parties with low attendance. It is not something crazy or weird. It is totally calculated by the promoters. But with Diggers, low attendance is unlikely in SF.
