I would like to get into trance. I usually listen to different kinds of music (my favourite bands include In Flames, Dark Tranquillity, God is an Astronaut, Agalloch).

Some trance-like things I enjoyed:

Infected Mushroom - Cities of the Future

Infected Mushroom - None Of This Is Real
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=efe4jTJG_jk
Armin van Buuren - Imagine
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=czJzYSoaNCU
Groove Coverage - Moonlight Shadow
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f5YqorFOp_4
Schiller Mit Heppner - I Feel You
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dQlxjSm0qU0

Infected Mushroom is the only trance band, that I have listened to for more than just a couple of tracks. I kind of like it, but I find it a bit too weird and majority of their songs is just too experimental for me to enjoy.

Generally speaking, I like intense, melodic music, preferably dark and melancholic.

A few more:

Emmanuel Top - Fusion
Oliver Lieb - Subraumstimulation (Main Mix)
Li Kwan - Point Zero 2004 (Digital Blonde 2004 Remake)
Elastique Culture - U (DJ Scot Project Mix)
Genetic Waste - Palace Of Wisdom

To kind of second that Dumonde recommendation, driving, old-school Moogwai might be a hit with you:

This week I found this description of my favorite track, which should be mentioned of course:

This is an example of such a track that simply is true inspiration to even the most experienced and worldly DJ's. No conventions here, no standard build-up, no rules, no limits, no boundaries, no worn out sounds, no more-of-the-same, no let's-please-the-A&R-guy, no let's-stick-to-this tempo, no need for continuing drums, with probably "the mother of open trance breaks without drums".

Thanks, you were all quite close to my tastes.

Gonna definitely check more stuff from Moogwai and Digital Blonde.
