Yeee i guess this has been asked before but it's a good quastion =)
IE
+ Works with almost all sites.
+ Doesn't take up much memory on windows machines
- Microsoft has made it
- Just for windows (and a bit mac)
- Slow rendering
- Nothing extra
Mozilla (www.mozilla.org)
+ Works on most OS/Platforms
+ Open source
+ Tabbed browsing
+ Pop up blocking
+ Load pages faster than IE
- Doesn't render all sites perfect (allthough it render perfect 99.99% of the cases)
Opera (www.opera.com)
+ VERY fast!
+ Works on many platforms, not as many as mozilla though...
+ Mouse gestures
+ Pop up blocking
+ Fast forward and fast backward
+ Not microsoft
+ A lot of smart "small feutures"
- Not open source (guess you don't care though...)
- Doesn't render all sites perfect (not as good as mozilla, but still good)
- Advertise banner in the upper right corner if you don't pay for it....
Okay, now you have read trough all that , wich is my favourite browser? The fact is that i don't really now, sometimes it's mozilla and sometimes it's opera, depends on...
Btw, why can't i post polls?! |

I use mozilla mostly, mainky as it has tabs, and I can use it in windows and linux. :) but at the end of the day there is no "best" browser, it just depends on what the individual user requires from a web browser |

Actually, Mozilla is the browser that follows the W3 standards the most closely. All those sites that aren't being "rendered prefectly" are using non-standard code, sometimes even Internet-Explorer-compatable-only code, which is a big no no. Imagine if everyone just did whatever the hell they wanted, we would have hundreds of common image formats, no MP3's, DVD's that aren't compatible with every DVD player, etc
While on this topic, allow me to continue my pro-Mozilla-spamming :D

AvantBrowser (http://www.avantbrowser.com) for 5 reasons:
1. Runs on the IE engine, supports everything IE supports.
BUT,
2. It's much faster, and doesn't crash when explorer.exe does!
AND,
3. It supports TABS, which is the primary reason many people even downloaded Mozilla!
4.1 It blocks PopUps (can be turned off).
4.2 It can block any of the following:
-Active-X
-Flash
-Images
-Scripts
-Applets
-SOUND
-VIdeo
5. It minimizes (can be disabled) to the system tray, saving even more space.
It also looks good. |

Mozilla firebird.
It has tabs (best thing ever, I don't have tons of ie windows open anymore!), a google search box, intelligent popup blocking, smooth scrolling, it has a small footprint, it's sleek, fast, and doesn't crash like IE does.
Its also the browser that the moz team will continue developing. I believe mozilla 1.4 is the last of the old one.
