Using your monitor as a TV

I don't have a lot of space so I want to use my flatscreen as a tv so I don't have to cram a TV into my room as well. Anybody know the cheapest yet acceptable (from a quality standpoint) of doing this??

You would need a tv tuner card to go into your pc, then you can have the tv in a window and continue to use other windows for work/chat/email etc, or go full screen so it would be identicle like a normal tv.

Id recomend a leadtek one - http://www.leadtek.com.tw/multimedi..._deluxe_1.shtml - ive recomended this model to a few friends of mine and they have had no complaints. It also has a fm tuner and you can schedule it to record radio shows (and tv for that matter) when your out as well!

Some of the beter ones also come with a remote controll so no need to be sat directly in front of your pc either.

i'm in the same boat.

cept the ******s who run my apt. are supposed to fix me up with a direct tv box or whatever. but they are supposed out of them.....

so i'm supposed to wait till they get some more till i can hook my monitor/tv up too the tv system.

yeah you can, I ment you can change chanels for old style tv before cable was around, so you could go for the cheaper version of that card to save on some money.

A case of checking out every card, idealy spend a few minuts checking out ur local stores etc, and online computer shops and see what the prices are like, if you can afford it dont get the cheapest, The leadtek one i sugested is relitavley cheep here in the uk and it does its job, there are others that are cheaper but sometimes buying cheep can cause problems so its worth paying that lil bit more for quality
