Everytime I try to open an .avi file using Windows media player it has to send a request for a codec, which always fails. I've tried using other movie players, but they don't work either :(
Any ideas? :conf: :conf: |

Different players wont help, everyone uses the same codecs. Instal divx, xvid and fddshow (get them HERE ).
If it still wont play download the latest wersion of windows media player, that usualy helps. |

You can use an avi editing programm like VirtualDub (free) or Adobew Premiere (commercial) to see with which codec the video is encoded. Then you can go download the apropriete codec. |

You need the DIVX codec. Just go to http://www.divx.com/divx/ and get the free player or codec. |
Nice one! Thanks :) |

I use BSPlayer and the Defilerpak codec set. Both are pretty good. |

Funny thing is, I have none of these codecs installed, just BSplayer and the hacked WMPlayer. And yet I'm able to play DivX and XviD movies. The codec details show the media players are using the NERO MPEG plugin....which got installed with Nero Burning Rom. |
