it's been about a year since I first saw gladiator, must say russel crowe was stunning, great performance but that's beside the point

watching the movie got me all emotional and stuff, gave me a strange feeling that I cant explain, so the other day I went out and rented the dvd again to give it another watch

I think it's a fantastic movie, and this is where I'm getting at, is it just another movie, are movies just that, or do productions like gladiator have deeper meanings

for example in music, some people make tracks for the money, and put no emotion in what they are doing, other producers though, they love what they are doing and put so much into it that they make magic

are all movie producers doing is for the dough, or are there films that come from the heart?

To tell the good producers from the ones just trying to make money, you should look at what they have been producing. Producers with no heart tend to become repetitive, they will not grow, and then eventually fade away. Good producers are constantly innovating and evolving.

In the last four years, Ridley Scott produced Gladiator, Hannible, Black Hawk Down, and Matchstick Men. All are very different movies, and all were great movies. It takes a lot of heart to open yourself to such different types of stories and put in so much effort to make each one as amazing as possible. Ridley Scott is deffinately one of my favorite, but sadly he's only one of the few that seem to enjoy what they do.

PS Matchstick Men is a very good movie. If you haven't seen it, you should pick it up. Deffinately one of his best.

Yeah Gladiator is probabily in my Top 10 Movies Ever Made, Everything was perfect, Not many films could top it maybe Lord of the Rings.

I personally thought Matchstick Men was a bore... but that's only my opinion. If you want to talk about a GREAT movie, your avatar say's it all! LOVE IT.

i loved gladiator when it came out. It's just so epic in every sense. The music was beautiful too.

in the chariot race, when the chariot "blows up" and turns over on one side, u can see a pressurized tank on the left side

Yeah theres directors that make movies for money with minimal dedication, but then theres people that put their heart and soul ito the production, like Peter Jackson, that guy is was an animal when he was making LOTR.

Same wtih Woody Allen, theres TONNES of stories of him on the set on his movies that are just insane, he is really into his films.

That's pretty much two of the most well known directors I guess.

But yeah these guys are pure heart.

btw, i heard someone died durng the production of Gladiator from natural causes and people had to put his digitized head on a double for the rest of his scenes....

Cal
Yeah the old black dude, the owner of the school

The scene where he is killed its not really him.
