Good afternoon. You will die in six months.

So, a friend of mine got told this recently. Hospitalization is an option, but I don't think he's going to do it due to the extremely low chance of surviving.
What would you do if you had six months to live? - assuming you will have relatively good health and a healthy sum of money to spend (say, 30K)
He asked me what I would do. I want to hear what the masses here have to say.
Here is what I would do:
I would hop on a plane to America, stopping in every city I have a close friend at to visit them. I would not tell most people, but I would tell my closest friends.
I would say goodbye to my family while I am still in good health.
I would set off toward Mexico (from Oregon) - heading toward Central America, staying as close to the Pacific Ocean as possible. I would not fly - hop from town to town via hitchhiking and cheap busses and such.I would basically walk or ride from town to town, country to country, until I got to Rio Di Janeiro. I would party my ass off along the way. From there, I would fly to Africa and hike up Mt. Kilamanjaro. From there to South Africa. From there to Jerusalem. From there, to India. From there, to China and Japan. From there, to Thailand and the French Polynesian Islands. Then, to Australia. After diving the great barrier reef, I would do a hike in the outback, and probably die of some crazy animal bite or something like that. If I survived it, I would go to the deepest forests of New Zealand and live the rest of my days in solitude, writing about my entire life. I would tell no one about this.
So... what would you do? |

I'd do everything I was afraid to do for fear of death/health problems. |

Would you still go to work?
Still watch sports?
Still come and post here?
Humor me. |

Good idea. I liked the idea of someone finding my remains 10 years later and profiting on them, though. Like you do in video games. |

One thing everyone should do
Find the person you love, stick to them as much as possible. (see sig) Tell them you love them everyday. And write as much as possible. WRITE WRITE and WRITE some more. |

I agree, send emails, write call...but this should be done regardless of how much time you think you have left...

Doing things that you didn't do before just because you're going to die is cowardlike. And doing so just proves that the life you had wasn't of much interest. Plus, the reaction of getting yourself into new adventures would be sorrounded by melancholy knowing that the day of the end is getting closer(of course, it might not apply to all people). But that's just me.
I guess the traveling would be a good idea since the money has to be spent. Although it would be better to offer the 30K to your favorite DJ(a good deed for a dying human being is a must) or DJs to play for you and all those invited. ;) |
