Films of various praire dogs being shot and more or less blown to bits by medium to large caliber hunting rifles.
Some of them targets are obviously fake, but most appear authentic |

fake ones, its obvious there all fake
and before these dudes make a film, they need to learn how to: shoot, edit, use decent music, tripod/monopod, lighting, etc. |

The only animal I've ever intentionally killed with a gun was a prarie dog. I was in South Dakota at the time - you sorta have to kill them when you see them in farmland - they dig holes in the middle of cow fields, and when cows get their legs stuck in them, they struggle so much to get out that they break their own legs and eventually die out in the middle of the field because they can't get to food or water.
I spotted it out in the yard, squatting in the grass... through the scope on my .22. Hollow-point stinger-rounds make all the difference when destroying rodents that breed bubonic plague amongst themselves and eventually die from disease more often than anything else. I shot it square in its lower-torso; there was no true way to determine this though, because when I approached what was left of it, the entire lower 3/4 of the prarie dog was missing, and, in a true reflex, it had managed to crawl about 20 feet from the point I had initially shot it at - the trail of entrails smeared across the grass were determinate of this. Encountering what remained though, I could tell that it was still alive...I shall never forget those black eyes through my scope as I took aim and absolutely vaporized his head.
Though it was only an inconsequential animal, I still don't feel all that great about it. Right, wrong - whatever. None of that matters in the face of death. |
